Would hot pink black and silver go with cheetah print?

I'm getting married at a zoo and at first I was hesitant to use animal print but now I feel like something's missing from my table design and I think since it is at the zoo maybe I should do cheetah print. But I'm worried if it will go with what I already have and that it'll end up looking too much like a sweet 16 instead of a wedding. Thoughts?imageimage

  • In general, I'm not a fan of animal print because it is hard to make it not look cheap. And I do think you have a valid point about it looking like a child's birthday party.

But if you really want it and it is just that subtle zebra-print butterfly, I don't think it is too much (but i definitely wouldn't do anything more than that). I don't think anything is missing from your table without it, though.

IMHO, I would leave it out. Maybe do animal cake toppers if you want to incorporate the zoo a little more subtly:

  • What about putting the butterfly in the flowers at the base of the vase, instead of sticking out on the top?  I think a little more subtle would be better, but I'm not opposed to it.  Although I'm generally not a fan of animal print, it's a zoo!
  • Hmm, I honestly wouldn't use a print such as cheetah print as a colour because it doesn't say "wedding" to me.  That butterfly isn't too much so I would leave the table setting as the way it is without adding anymore print.  Perhaps you could add zebra print to the wedding cake

  • I would not add any animal print to a hot pink/ black/ silver color scheme.  Unfortunately I think you're right: it would look like a sweet 16.

I think your table looks just fine the way it is!  The idea of putting the butterfly at the bottom sounds nice.

One other thought I had was to use banana leaves.  They look tropical without being OTT.

  • I'd skip the animal prints too. Your centerpieces look lovely. Also, animal prints aren't exactly timeless- you run a very high risk of creating a look that future generations will mock you for!

I agree with PP's that the cheetah print would be too Sweet 16ish.  I like your centerpieces the way they are.  Remember, less is more ;)

  • My first thought when I saw the photo was that it looked like a bridal shower, not a wedding.  I'd skip it.
  • I love the banana leaf idea. If you're at a zoo, honestly I wouldn't "compete" with the natural environment. Less is more in a case like this.

  • I think your table looks niece. FWIW, we threw my niece a sweet 16 party last year and it was black, hot pink, and zebra print.
