Hilltop Manor Inn - Clarklake, Mi (or other barn weddings)

Has anyone gotten married, been to a wedding, inquired about having their wedding...at Hilltop Manor Inn? I am looking for an alternative to a country club or banquet hall style wedding, and I will have at least 200 guests. So any suggestions are welcome! This is already very overwhelming, but in a good way. We haven't set a date yet, and won't till we have our venue locked in, but we are targeting late summer - fall of 2015. I am not set on a barn style wedding, but this place caught my eye because they allow you full use (if you rent it) of the guest house and the grounds for the whole weekend. I like the idea of having extra time to set up and decorate and not feel rushed like you have to be in and out of the venue at a deadline. This place also appeals to us because we can cater our food and alcohol, and that will help lower the cost considering we have such a large guest list. I am not looking for a "cheap" wedding, we have a decent sized budget. But that being said, I don't want or need an extravagant wedding just because I can afford it :) So if anyone could help out with a review of this place (link below) or other similar locations in Michigan, it would be so appreciated! I know there are probably plenty of "barn wedding" threads and I plan to dig in after I finish this post - but I didn't find any reviews or mentions of this venue, so I started a new discussion.

TIA!

  • Haley, GIRL!
Small world. I was looking into this place too, but can't find any reviews either.
I'll let you know if I come across anything!
  • Also, if looking for similar, check out

  • Recommend you look at two upstate New York barns...

  • ...Why would they look at upstate New York barns?  That's random.

There are some awesome barns on the west side of the state.  I thought Hidden Vineyard was PERFECT- I was a little bummed that FI wanted to get married in Detroit so we didn't end up going with it.  As stefy mentioned, there are a few in Ann Arbor, I found them expensive and kind of weird (one is literally in someone's front yard 20 feet away from their home).  We ended up scrapping the barn idea because we didn't find any in any locations that worked for us, but I do have a list of every barn we found/liked in Michigan if you are interested.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for the help ladies! I am still all over the place with planning...one minute I love the barn idea the next minute I am back into more of a banquet type hall, thank god for this site. Still keeping my options open till we find the right place!
