Oh hello...re-introduction!

Hey all! I posted an introduction here about a year and a half ago, but then broke up with my SO a few months later, was sad, and stopped visiting TK. A lot has changed since then, I am now with the most incredible man I could imagine, and I have been back lurking on here for a few weeks. I feel like a total stranger here again, so I thought I would re-introduce myself!

Hi there! I don't know that I was around when you joined originally, I think that was my hiatus :-) 

How does your BF look bald? My XH started going bald after we were divorced and now he shaves his head. But he looks ridic with his giant ears and bald head lol

I used to proctor SAT practice exams. My ex-SIL was the person who got me the job, and she's also the person who told me to read Jen Lancaster. She warned me not to read any of her books while proctoring, though, because she would laugh out loud during the test. I ignored her advice ... just the one time, because yeah, it REALLY annoys high school students when you burst out laughing while they're taking a test!

I don't know how he would look totally bald...he has a pretty round face, so shaving his head might not suit him. I am trying to gently suggest that he cut his hair shorter; it's a bit long and I think that really highlights the fact that he's balding on top! On the plus side, he does look good in hats...I just get tired of having to duck under the brim of a hat to kiss him!

Welcome!! We have the same pet peeves--I literally have to do all the dishes, bc BF just doesn't care and would leave them in the sink until we ran out! Fortunately he's amazing and in exchange for me always doing the dishes, he cleans the bathrooms (and doesn't even mind)!

Welcome back! Just tell your SO to embrace the bald! It's not really going to go away or come back so might as well learn to live with it. My FI has...although he's also been told since the age of 10 that he's going to lose all of his hair anyway (pretty much all men on both sides of his family are bald and they went bald in their 20s) so enjoy it while he has it. He keeps it trimmed really short right now and as the balding/thinning gets worse he's going to just shave it off.

Also your kitty is so cute!! Tell us some funny cat stories if you have any.

@lmhollister haha, my FI is terrified of going bald (which he probably will someday.)  It's kinda cute how attached he is to his hair

Hahaha yeah that sounds about right! My issue is always on the subway!

Thanks for the warm welcome! And the cat love...he's full of mischief but is so sweet and cute that I don't usually mind his antics. He loves boxes and bags, anything that he can hide in; he gets excited when I go grocery shopping and leave the big reusable bags on the kitchen floor for him. His best (worst) trick was a couple weeks ago when he stole an entire dumpling out of the frying pan on the stove!! What a jerk.

 

@mbross3 I remind BF about the dishwasher every time he tries to leave stuff in my kitchen sink. I feel like it's a losing battle, but I'm trying for now.

 

@Blue & White I promise I am not crazy! Sort of funny though that there are 2 lm's; hi @lmhollister

 

I really don't understand why he is hiding the balding thing...unless he wants to spend all of his money on Rogain, the hair is gone and isn't coming back! I think shorter hair would help make it less obvious, but I'm betting that shaving it all off is not too far away either lol

Where did you do your volunteer trips? Any particular organization or cause? I love stuff like that and hope to get back into it after I graduate.

So we put on Board-certifying exams for veterinary specialists and the proctors get in trouble every year for laughing during the exams. Problem is, they are usually do so while reading the candidate essays and holy hell, talk about pissed off folks!

@brerhodes I remember a fair bit of crazy when I was on here a couple years ago…I don't want to go down that path! @Niccirf I work for an organization that administers exams as well! I don't think we've had invigilators get busted for laughing…but you never know!

Jen Lancaster is hilarious and snarky and wonderful! I highly recommend!

I spent a month in Guatemala and then a month in Cambodia the year later. We worked with a bunch of different organizations in both countries, and got to travel a bit at the same time. It's a really great way to travel, lets you see a country in a really different way!

Ahhhh, that's amazing! Guatemala and Cambodia are both on my list of places to go, Cambodia to volunteer in particularly. So awesome that you did that!

@CLoGreenEyes Cambodia is amazing! I did really like Guatemala too, but I absolutely loved Cambodia. There are some great volunteer opportunities available for sure.
