So my MOH wants to through me a bachelorette party. Great, sounds like fun, but I don't want to go out super late the day before our wedding (wedding = Dec) and the week before is Christmas. Now I am traveling back to hometown for wedding so I'll pretty much be there for Christmas and the wedding. Also most of my friends will be home for Christmas and live elsewhere, so I was thinking maybe something a little low-key the morning of December 26th (day before our wedding).

She suggested maybe a mani/pedi day where she invites many of girl friends/family to go get mani/pedis at a place near us where we could bring in our own drinks (alcohol = okay!) and snacks and we could talk and throw on a movie if we wanted. Anyone who wanted could get a mani/pedi while we were there. The place, assuming we have 5 people or more, which actually let us rent them out so it is closed to the public. They will also bring in more people to work if we can give them an estimate.

This leads to the question that if my MOH is hosting drinks and food, does she have to pay for the mani/pedi (it would be optional)? If she does, we will probably nix this option, but I was wondering what you ladies thought.
I know my wedding is still a ways out, but we were just talking about it and she asked me the etiquette of it.

Edited to fix date issue.

  • Do you honestly think that the morning of your wedding is a great day to get all your girlfriends together?  That would give me serious anxiety...

At bachelorette parties, each person usually pays for their own expenses, so I would assume this would work the same and anything hosted by your MOH would just be a bonus.

    Oops!!
I meant the morning the day before my wedding, so on. Most people won't have work still and people will still be in town. :)

  • Also, great thanks. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't rude. I'll give my MOH the green light. (Clearly that is a slow green, nothing is happening with this for a while)

My mom is going to be so excited. She has never had her nails done professionally before and is dying for an excuse :)

  • Thanks for spelling it correctly on my account!

I think this is fine -- MOH is hosting drinks/food, which is lovely of her, and then the girls would just pay for their manis/pedis themselves (if they want them, or want only one of them, or whatever).

That sounds like fun! I would totally do that!

That's so cute - I had mine done for the first time when I was 28 and never looked back lol.

One of my dad's 60th birthday presents was a pedicure and now he gets them anytime he has the excuse.

  • great idea-- just make sure when MOH does the invites she includes a price sheet so people can have a heads up with the cost and understand the mani/pedi is their responsibility to pay for so there is no confusion come the day of. We did this as part of my bachelorette party and it was so fun. The salon had it closed for us and the way the room was set up we were all next to/across from each other and could just talk, drink champagne, etc. It was awesome. Have Fun!

  • Sounds like a perfect way to relax before the big day and get the pampering you'll be well deserved to have at that point!
