Plus-Sized

My BF and I are finally on the same page!

So both my BF and I are 'plus-sized' if you will - and we both want to lose weight - however we tend to get "on the bandwagon" at different times.

We've recently moved in together and had a big disci ssion before moving in that we need to make sure that we have no soda in the house (my personal downfall - Pepsi is so delicious!), and we need to eat at home (even if it isn't healthy - I feel like a home cooked meal is in many ways better than eating out. . . ) at least 5 dinners a week.
For this coming week's menu I've planned a few of the dinners from Skinny Tastes website - so I'm planning on trying to make a lot of the meals on the healthier side - with a few meals here and there for 'guilty pleasure' nights.

We've now been living together/starting working towards a healthier lifestyle for a whole 8 days now - and I've already lost 9 lbs! (I swear - 8 of those were on moving day. . . . .)

Now keep in mind I have an additional #113 to go to reach my goal - but . . . . . . I'm just hoping that since we are now both on the same page we can really make this change stick!

Re: My BF and I are finally on the same page!

  • Congratulations!! It is SO important to be on the same page when it comes to bringing (or NOT bringing) certain foods into the house. My fiance would eat pasta and sauce and nothing else for all of eternity if i didn't feel like cooking for us. Many times that is still what we would end up eating because of the convenience, and how much he loves it. It seems like every meal was centered around carbs. He started a new job last week which means he doesnt get home til close to 90 minutes after I do now, which in turn means I get to make ALL of our dinner decisions now. Hopefully this will get us on the track we need to be on to get in shape!
  • Yeah - BF would either throw a frozen pizza in the oven or grab something on the way home while he was "off" . . . . and I would get sick of that so quickly!

We have a good system which is similar to yours - where I tend to get home about an hour before he does - so I'll cook/get everything ready - and he will clean up after. But I personally find it so much easier to do the meal planning on my own. . . . . . it gets complicated when I ask for his input! Plus - he'll eat whatever I put in front of him so . . . . hahaha

    Good luck on your journey!

Congrats!  It's great to have someone that is on the same page as you working toward a common goal.  We've been trying to eat better too.....we try and limit our eating out to twice a month max.  It really makes a big difference.....and we enjoy those meals out more!  Keep it up!
  • WTG!  I've just started the same thing. FI had a gastric bypass 3 weeks ago and is dropping weight like crazy. I just started the 21 day fix from beach body, but in the week or two prior have lost about 8 pounds (mostly because I was trying not to eat around FI, which meant not eating at home).
