Cake Vs cupcake pricing

I would really LOOOOVVVEEE To do a cupcake tree, with a small 6'' on top for my cake.  What have you guys found as far as pricing??  Like have you found that cupcakes are more expensive? Or not that much difference in price?  Let me know!! Thanks

I am doing something very similar for my wedding. I have talked to a bunch of people including previous brides who have done cupcakes and many have said they have had better luck with cupcakes. My fiance's cousin just went to Sam's Club and purchased their cupcakes in bulk there and than decorated them themselves. They said that they found it to be a lot cheaper and a lot more fun being able to decorate them themselves. That's what I plan on doing as well. Just purchase them in bulk from a grocery store or somewhere like a Sam's Club or Costco and just frost them yourself.

We are doing cupcakes too and they will cost 1.80 each fully decorated and free delivery

Cup Cakes were less expensive with my research... but my venue only allowed a tiered cake to be brought in... otherwise you ate their sheet cake. 

We are gettinge the tiered cake from Carl's Cakes (in Madison).  His prices are very reasonable and the cake is amazing!

We are doing cupcakes from Sendik's. They do basic vanilla or chocolate flavor. Their buttercream frosting is awesome. We are getting married near Halloween, so the Halloween decorating will be included (about 1.30 per cupcake). We went around town and tested a lot of cupcakes. Even went to some of the fancy cupcake and bakery places and was not as impressed as we were with Sendik's! Also doing my flowers from Sendik's )

We are doing white almond cupcakes with a chocolate frosting with a 6' cake on the top from Cakes by Stephanie and she only charges .50 a cupcake!
