Isle Runner for Ceremony

Should use an Isle Runner for my wedding ceremony?  It is being held at a chapel. I am not sure what the etiquette is for the use of this item. My fiancée thinks its not necessary.  I think it will look nice. Can anyone help me figure this one out? Thanks.

Are they necessary?  Probably not (about 99.999% of things used at a wedding aren't necessary.) but I personally like them and think they are very beautiful, especially if you aren't doing a lot of decorating or using a lot of floral at the Church.

We bought a burnt orange aisle runner  from http://www.customizedweddingcreations.com/ for my daugther's wedding.  It was incredibly beautiful and added a vibrant "pop" of color to the Chapel.

that's funny.  the aisle carpet in my church is that color exactly, and many brides want an aisle runner to cover it up.  LOL  i think it's lovely.  ;)

I decided to use one to make the aisle more of an actual aisle. I have been to only a few church weddings but none of them had a runner. I personally like them, but like all the pp's its a preference deal.

Aisle runners are never "needed", and many churches frown on them, or don't allow them at all.

They are an extraneous, one-use item that is not necessary, are a logistical PIA, curl up, and are a tripping hazard.  I don't think they add much to the look of the wedding for all the trouble they cause.

Definitely not necessary....you couldn't pay me to use one in my wedding. I have never been to a wedding where they are straight and flat and aren't ruined by the end of the reception.  I have seen so many beautiful pictures of the church where the runner is crooked or messed up and thats all I can stare at.  Plus, I'm clumsy in the first place, but throw a big dress on me, add a bunch of nerves and a bunched runner and I'm going down FOR SURE! :-)

I love love love the idea of a personalized aisle runner.  I'm ordering mine from the Original Aisle Company.  What I recommend is their nonslip fabric....so it doesn't tear, move, or cause you to fall.  In most circumstances I find that the aisle runner (if it's not a cheap paper kind) adds a touch of elegance and personalization for the whole wedding.  Ours is going to be white, edged in silver with a hand crystal script K, the date underneath and snowflakes with crystals on them (Photos in my planning bio).  Also, it is a nice memory of the day.  We're having ours collected by the venue at the end of the ceremony and then the personalized K part is being chopped off and framed.
