What would you think?

Re: What would you think?

  • I would defer to my staple housewarming gift, which is a trifle dish and the recipe for Red, White and Blueberry trifle dessert. :) But I would also include a gift receipt if you didn't want a trifle dish.
  • Is it super really weird that when I make myself snacks, in my head I state the recipe for it (even if I'm not really following a defined recipe or even measuring)? Like, lately, my favorite snack is a rice cake with peanut butter, and when I'm making it in my head I'll say:

"Take one rice cake" *takes rice cake out of package*
"…and 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter" *scoops out some peanut butter*
    "…and spread" *spreads*
  • Honestly, I am the type of person that would buy a gift, wrap it up and wait until I saw others going into the location to guage if the gift was anticipated, but then again I am a little paranoid.   Or I would call others I knew to be invited and ask if they were getting gifts and what they were getting.

Its a very confusing dilemma.  I can understand not wanting to put registry info on shower invites, but if you have older relatives and they don't use the internet it is a little difficult for them to find the information.

In a way this situation kinda sucks because you can't exactly complain as it is a gift from your MOH so you should be grateful, but if there are truly things you need and registered for them, showers are a way for people to get you those items... But again nobody's entitled to anything, but I can see how one could be a bit disappointed
Yeah, once I got over my initial surprise over the change I realized how excited I am no matter what happens.  I know my MOH is spoiling me by throwing this, she's coming from out of state just to do this and I am beyond excited and am counting the days! I may be a bride but that entitles me to absolutely nothing! You ladies are a great sounding board.

    recipe please?
  • @kmmssg - I honestly can't even take credit for it. I just use it ALL THE TIME and everyone LOVES it. I also add raspberries. It's from a website called skinnytaste.com. Here is the recipe:

    Ingredients:
    • 10 oz angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
    • 2 pints strawberries, sliced
    • 2 pints blueberries

    For the cream filling:
    • 6 tbsp fat-free sweetened condensed milk (I used Borden Eagle)
    • 1 1/2 cups cold water
    • 1 package sugar-free white chocolate instant pudding mix
    • 12 oz fat-free frozen whipped topping, thawed

    Directions:

Whisk the condensed milk and water in a bowl. Whisk in the pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set; fold in the whipped topping.

Arrange half of the cake in the bottom of a 14-cup trifle dish. Sprinkle evenly with a layer of blueberries. Spread half of the cream mixture over the blueberries and gently spread (I piped it using a plastic bag and cut the corner off). Top with a layer of strawberries. Layerthe remaining cake cubes on top of the strawberries, then add more blueberries and topwith the remaining cream mixture. Finish with the remaining strawberries and blueberries, arranging them in a pretty pattern. Cover and refrigerate at least one 1 hour.

Well that sounds perfectly dreadful.  I shall have to make it and check it out before I serve it to anyone.....:)  yummm
  • Add me to the list of people who will be trying that recipe!! Yum!!

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'
  • I might be confused by the invite, but I would ask the host when I called to RSVP to clarify it for me. FWIW, my MOH forgot to include registry information in my shower invite and she said that people asked her when they called.
