Mani/pedi for wedding

I was thinking of getting shellac for my mani. I've had it done once a few years ago but remember there being limited colors, and not all salons offer this. Are there good "bridal" colors? Do people often get that on their toes as well?

I have to go on a Wednesday because I'm getting a spray tan on Thursday morning, rehearsal is Friday afternoon, then wedding is Saturday. So I'm worried that a regular mani won't hold up especially because I'm so clumsy.

What are you plans/colors for your wedding day nails?

Thanks!

Re: Mani/pedi for wedding

  • A regular French or something colorful.

  • Actually, most salons offer this now than when it first came out. Some also have the powder thing they do. Connections, I think its called? But its similar to acrylic nails, so if your not into that, shellac is the WTG. :)

When I get mine done, I will have blue and grey.

The selection of colors at the salon I go to is pretty decent. Can you stop by the shop now to check out the color options to see if they have something you like to help you make a decision?

My friend who does it all the time has even had two colors done on top of each other to get the final look she was going after. Like she did a soft gold polish and then the other had a little simmer so when she was done it looked like she had a soft gold simmer polish, looked great

  • Definitely stop at the salon you are thinking of using and check out their color selection.  I wear shellac 24/7 and over the last3 or 4 years the color selection has really exploded - but that is because there is more than one brand of shellac type polish.

My DD is getting married in June and will have a shellac mani.  We are going to do our nails on Wednesday since it doesn't chip and that frees up our time on Thursday and Friday.  I am a huge fan of the stuff!

  • I am doing a shellac mani for my wedding. I get one every year when we go on vacation too so that I don't have to worry about my polish chipping while I'm away. I would say you probably don't need to spend the extra money on the pedi though. They usually last much longer than mani's do anyways even with regular polish.

The salon I go to had a pretty limited selection when they first started doing shellac, but as its become more popular they have gotten a lot more colors. Neutrals, light pinks, and other bridal colors have always been in their collection though. Those are pretty standard colors.

  • I did gel polish (similar to shellac in some ways) for my wedding manicure and did regular polish on my toes.  It dries instantly under a light and it was almost 3 weeks until I had to have it taken off because it was starting to peel up.

I didn't want a french manicue but I didn't want something too bold so I went with a darker dusty rose color.  You can do whatever you want though!

  • IT's definitely picked up in popularity so I would stop and see what the options are. I love shellac manis and plan to get that done for my own wedding!
