Advice: Picking the MO

I'm debating between 2 ladies. One is my best friend since elementary, but she is in Texas. She has accepted my offer for BM. The other is my current best friend who lives the next city over from me, and we have done a lot together. I was her MO. I contact the one in Texas a lot, and planning wouldn't be too hard with her, but the other would be easier since she is already here. Suggestions? I'm keeping them discrete for a reason. We will call my first girl Texas, and the second one can be Nearby.

Re: Advice: Picking the MO

  • Great news!  Your MOH is nothing but a bridesmaid with an honor title, which means she isn't obligated to do anything other than buy a dress of your choosing and show up sober on your wedding day!  So location is completely irrelevant.

The only person obligated to help you plan your wedding is your FI.  Or a paid professional planner.

Go with whoever is your closer friend, and don't demand that she assist you with anything if you intend for her to want to be your friend after the wedding.  Of course, if she offers assistance you may take it.

Neither of them would be easier since neither of them have to do anything special. Have them both. Have no MOH at all. Choose the one you would call at 3 a.m. to help you hide a body. That's how you pick your MOH.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Go with the person you would call at 3 AM to hide a dead body.  There is nothing a MOH needs to do but show up in the dress sober and ready to smile for pictures.  And as PP said, if you need someone to help plan your wedding, that person is your FI.
  • Which one did you call first when you got engaged?  Who would you call first if your grandma died?

MOH is about the person you feel closest to, not the one who is physically closer to you or talks to you more frequently.
