Sooo... Where's Spring? :|

It is mid-March, and we officially have just as much snow as we did in December.

Our area has now had 4 full months of winter, and it doesn't appear to be stopping any time soon, judging from the fact that it's -22C today and we got 22cm of snow yesterday (funny coincidence... but still annoying!).

*Whine*  Make it go away.

Re: Sooo... Where's Spring? :|

  • The windchill this morning was -1. I'm so freaking tired of this winter. Just end already!
  • The temperature here was 15F/-9C this morning, with windchills either in the single digits or below zero, depending on which meteorologist you believe.

DH and I have been married five months today, and it has been cold/wet/rainy/snowy since the day we got married. Seriously. I realised that this morning. It rained a little on our wedding day, it rained on our honeymoon, it rained or snowed or sleeted or was just cold ever since.

I am ready for winter to be O.V.E.R.

  • You tell me, haha. Texas weather is so wishy washy. I am grateful we don't have snow, but we are looking at many possible tornadoes this spring with the warm and cool water. Not too happy about that. Spring, WHERE YOU BE!?!

  • The wind and coldness literally took my breath away when I opened the door to leave for work this morning. Right now it's 20 but feels like 9. And I forgot my hat :(

  • It is 19 degrees here. Windchill is much colder. The wind was so bad last night it kept me up half the night.

    Winter. We are done.

  • I'm in NC and we are not use to this much cold. We have had more snow and cold days this year than we have in the past 40 years. The news anchors were saying that if you are under the age of 40, this is the worst winter you have experienced (not sure if that is just for NC or not).

What makes it worse is that it goes from being 15 F one day to 75 F the next. Thanks to that, I have a hoorible cold now. Oh and thunderstorms one day and ice the next.

  • I forgot to add that with windchill, we're at -30C. I am not pleased.

  • So it's mean to mention that in Austin, the high today is 68?  :)

And that SXSW is happening right now.

I saw bluebonnets yesterday as I was driving down the interstate?

On the flipside of all that "goodness", Austin sucks because Justin Bieber's here.  :(  Sooo...that's bad, right?
  • I'm pretty sure here in WNY that the weather has decided to do whatever the fuck it wants. It was 52 degrees and sunny on Tuesday and then yesterday we had the blizzard Vulcan. Today is cold with the windchill below freezing and tomorrow it's supposed to be close to 50 degrees again. So I will not even bat an eyelash if we somehow get snow in August this year.
  • @shaylagirl -- I feel like I heard on the radio that someone from SXSW tried to flee the scene of an accident and the cops had to tase him...

  • It was 26 F when I headed out this morning, probably headed to around 45 or so. Nice spring day. Spring 40 feels so much warmer than fall 40.

Ahhhh, welcome to Colorado weather! It's quite common to go have 50+ degree temperature swings in the spring. I've been here for nearly 14 years now and my poor sinuses still aren't used to that crap.

I always say, "Welcome to North Carolina: where you can experience all four seasons in one week." Sad but true. NC has very sporadic weather but never usually this bad of a winter. I will say, I'd rather be cold thatn hot, that's for sure!

Ha! So true! I went to HS in Raleigh and my Mom & SD live in Greensboro so I know North Carolina heat and so agree with you ;)

  • And just to really rub it in, the weather channel had to announce that it is currently 5 degrees colder where I live (Virginia) then it is in Anchorage, AK. Winter, you're doing it wrong.
  • I was wondering the same thing, but for different reasons. I don't feel like we got spring we just went straight to summer. The high today is 75 and should be up to 81 by Saturday. If I could send you ladies some of this weather I would.

  • Tuesday it was lovely and sunny. I ran errands in my fall coat and light shoes.

Yesterday it snowed like gangbusters all damn day. I almost fell on my ass several times.

Today it is -15C but feels like -25C with the wind. I am getting lunch delivered today.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be 8 degrees and rainy. I will need rubber boots.

Go home March. You are drunk.

But AB is also known for occasionally getting snow in June/July...

  • Yes, but only for a day or two...

  • True. And you do have less humidity than Southern ON. Hmm...

  • Fuck winter in the ass with a rusty spork. I had to change my tire on the side of the road this morning. In heels.

Your punishment is that you get to keep Justin Beiber.
    So.Gross.

@pumpkinsandturkeys - That did, in fact, sadly happen.
Drunk driver, in an attempt to flee from police, plowed in to a crowd of people.  He killed 2, injured 20+.  The entire city is kind of reeling from it.  Fucking drunk drivers.  I hate them.
  • We only had about a month of winter here in NM. It's a common misconception that we don't have winter (at least the mid to upper parts of the state). It's nothing compared to where I used to live in MN, but it does get cold, especially after the sun goes down. That said, this year has been an anomaly. It's been beautiful! Everybody come this way!
  • @shaylagirl -- OMG. I just heard a clip of it on the radio on the way into work this morning, and didn't realise it was that tragic of an accident. What a selfish prick.

He drove away because he was at a police checkpoint; I'm guessing that he panicked because he knew he'd get caught driving drunk. After crashing into the crowd, he tried to flee on foot. I'm not a fan of capital punishment (so I'm not hoping for a death penalty), but I'm really hoping he gets crushed with a really sizeable sentence. And that no one else who's been hospitalized dies.
