What to wear?

Okay, maybe this should be on a different board, but I wasn't sure!  I will be attending a bridal shower the first weekend in April (for my lovely yet bridezilla-ish friend).  I'm a BM so I want to look put together and nice, but the invitation has truly thrown me for a loop. It will be held on a Saturday evening at a community center-type venue. Normally I would wear a cute spring dress for a shower, but should I go for something else since it's evening?

I think the spring dress is fine. You can always ask her what she was intending. Does she want it more casual or more formal? That will help you big time in deciding what to wear

I suppose I could ask around, I just didn't want to ask the bride since as far as I know the bride shouldn't be involved with the planning.  There's no host listed on the invitation to ask, it only  had instructions to RSVP to a generic e-mail that was clearly created for the wedding (has their names and wedding date).

Just because the bride is not involved in the planning doesn't mean she doesn't know if it's casual or formal.

I'd probably wear pants, heels and a nice top.

I'd also go with something less 'daytime'. Sometimes, that's as simple as choosing something in a darker/more muted colour palette, adding darker tights/pantyhose, adding a cardigan or blazer...

The other option is as above -- pants or a pencil skirt and a pretty blouse, which always looks put together.

If the weather is cooperative then I think the spring dress would be fine. I like @pumpkinsandturkeys idea of adding a blazer; if you have one that looks good with the dress you have in mind that might make it feel more evening-appropriate.

 Or you could switch up your shoes and accessories if you feel like the dress is too casual or too "daytime"

I'd add a cardigan to the dress.

I wear dresses everyday and would wear a spring dress to it, but I'd be wearing one regardless if is it was nice out. I might wear a darker color since it is night time, but I'd still be in a dress either way…but that's just my MO

This seems like the most agreed upon attire, I think we have a winner! Thank you ladies, I'm always so cautious when it comes to dressing for events!
