I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning...

I'm a long time lurker on these boards. I recently posted on the E board.

Anyway, I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. In the two hours I've been up, I received a phone call from my mom about my dog's health and I cracked the screen of my phone. My dog health recently hit a decline. He had a mass removed from his lower jaw that we are still waiting on the results of and then hurt his armpit under one of his front paws. My parents brought him to the vet who removed some tissue and patched it up. Well, he's been licking at it badly since to the point of it going further down into his arm. He's at the vet now with it wrapped close to his body to stop him from licking at it but there is no more tissue to be removed and it's possible the leg may need to be amputated. Unfortunately, that may end up costing my parents way too much money as it's nearly costing them $2000 with everything so far. That may mean he may need to be put to sleep which I just can't comprehend right now.

Then after getting off the phone with my mom, crying my eyes out, I dropped my phone on the floor of our bathroom. I've dropped my phone plenty of times and the screen has never cracked. So this day is just rolling out of my control right now. Sorry for the novel, just needed to get this out.

  • I'm so sorry. (((HUGS)))

We all love our animals a lot on these boards; you will get lots of sympathy from us about your dog.

I cracked the screen of my phone the other week, too. It sucks balls.

  • Sorry. I hope your dog, and your day gets better.
  • Thanks ladies. When my mother told me about the possibility of amputation and that it may just be to expensive for them to do so, I nearly broke down right then and there. He's been such a huge part of our family for the past 6 years and I just can't imagine what it would be like without him.

We had to put our first family dog down about 7 months before we adopted him because of her health issues. I know it will tear my mother apart if they have to do the same with him.

I drank the last of my wine last night! I may have to run to the store after my shower when my BF gets home to grab some more.

ETA: Though I do have cake flavored vodka, maybe that will be better.

  • Thanks ladies. My mother called me a few hours later knowing I was upset, I had posted about what she had told me on Facebook. She reiterated that amputation is a mere possibility and might not actually happen. She believes he can get through this and that he will be okay. I told her my mind automatically goes to the worst case scenario. I'm swinging by there tomorrow to check up on him and make sure he's okay.

I'm not a religious person but I'm finding myself praying to get him through this.
