No parents, who lifts veil?

Hello! Very simple question as of right now at least, lol! I am 23 and have two older sisters in mid 40s. My oldest sister will be walking me down the aisle because both of my parents have passed away. I want to wear a blusher and ideally would like to have had my father lift my veil before the ceremony actually begins, but since that isn't possible, is it bad etiquette to have my groom lift it as soon as I make my way down there? I know an option is to have my sister do it, but I know she will be crying like crazy already....side note, I'm also afraid about a nervous groom knocking my veil off or something!! hahah! So, end question is, what is considered a second best option and not rude, or whatever..?

The groom may lift it.  It is only a tradition, not a requirement.  Are you Jewish?

I always thought that when brides wear blushers, the groom lifts it after the ceremony then kisses her.

The tradition of the blusher dates back to Biblical times, when Jacob unknowingly married the wring girl, Leah, who wore a veil throughout the ceremony.  The groom lifts the veil to be sure that he is marrying the right girl.  Obviously, this is all symbolic, but it is done before the vows.  Often the FOB does it, to show everyone that it is the right girl, but the groom can also do it, just before the ceremony.

I guess I haven't been to enough weddings. I just assumed that I'd lift it myself.

It never even dawned on me to have someone else do it.

I went down the aisle alone because my dad has passed. When I got to the front, H lifted the veil. I didn't want my mom to do it in case she was crying plus in my mind, it would've been my day's role (again, not that it really matters officially). It's really about what works for you; there is no right or wrong.

If you want him to lift the veil I see nothing wrong with that. Also don't worry about him knocking it out. Your stylist will make sure it's nice and secure. Plus, your sister will be right there and can fix it.
