Venue Stress!!!

Well, my future mother-in-law checked out Ruby's Hall in Grafton yesterday and it doesn't look like we will be booking with them. While the price is great, and the venue is beautiful, I was not overly impressed with the owner. When I called Friday to ask if outside bartenders needed insurance, he said no. When we went in, he immediately stated that no outside bartenders were allowed. Why wasn't this brought up Friday when I called?

Small rant aside, we have a bartender that we absolutely adore and want to hire! He has great packages that cater to both the drinkers and the non-drinkers alike (seriously, MILKSHAKES!!!). Could anyone recommend a decently priced reception venue that allows outside caterers and bartenders that's close to Grafton that would seat about 150 people? Thankfully, we still have plenty of time, but I can see this being the stressful bit. Everything else has kind of been running too smoothly lol.

  • A few things to consider when trying to find a venue that will work with this bartender-
Where will the bartender be able to keep the ice cream to keep it cold? Is it close enough? Will the venue charge you more to store these items in their freezer space?
Where will the bartender be able to wash the blender between shakes?

It may become an issue to find a place to accommodate this bartender's needs based on the above assumptions. For example, if there isn't a sink too close I would imagine that they would want to have a barback that would be able to do running to wash the vessels that they blend in. You may want to check with the bartender to see what amenities they will need to be able to provide the full range of their services such as freezers, sinks, additional staff, etc so you know exactly what questions to ask of the venues you visit. I learned from my process that you have to ask a ton of questions to find out all of the things that can end up costing you more.
