Wedding Readers...

I just wanted to ask if you think I should be getting the readers for my wedding a corsage. I don't really have it in my budget but if it is something needed I will have to squeeze it in. My sister says that the readers are doing me a favour so they should get something. I think it is nice they are doing a reading but I don't feel like they are doing me a favour (they can say "no" if they don't want to), I think it goes both ways. It is great they are willing to read but they are also part of the special day as more than a guest (I don't mean to sound conceded). 

What do you think? Thanks.

I don't think it is required, but it is a nice gesture.

We had 2 female readers.  I had gerbera daisies in my bouquet (and the BMs) so I gave mine a single daisy.  DH had a calla lily bout so he have his a single calla lily.  The single flowers were cheaper than corsages and gave the readers the option of putting it in a vase when they got home.  If we didn't go with these flowers a single rose would have also been nice.

I have 2 readers (male) and am getting them each a boutineer.  I don't think it's required, but I did ask them to participate and think it's the right thing to do.

Totally optional. Like other posters said, it's a nice gesture, but certainly not required.

We considered readers part of the wedding party.  They both received flowers. Their names were included in the wedding program. They were both invited/included in the rehearsal dinner.

I think it would be the nice thing to do.  I have to be honest and wonder what is going on if 2 corsages are not in your budget.

We gave our readers (and cantor) corsages and boutonnieres. We considered them part of the wedding party.

Yes, they could say 'no,' but presumably these readings mean something to you and your FI (otherwise, why the hell are you doing them??) and your friends' participation in your day is worthy of note.

I have already gone over my wedding budget and I really don't want to push it but I guess I could get a small corsage or the flower idea is nice. 

Also my fiance and I had a huge discussion about money and the wedding budget and I had to lower my original budget so he would not be so annoyed with the wedding.

Well my fiance did not really want a wedding he was happy with town hall; it is just how he was raised. His dad said we should use the money buy a house and have a wedding in the backyard...which is just not me. 

I'm sure if I said I was getting corsages for the readers he would be fine but I myself am trying to respect the budget we set.

People can say no to favors.  Just because they can turn you down doesn't mean that they're not doing you a favor.
