Comfortable wedding heels!

Hi ladies! Anyone have any suggestions on a comfortable pair of wedding heels? I'm looking to keep the heel height around 3 to 4 inches. I don't want something that is going to kill my feet by the end of the night. I also do not want to change into flip flops or flats. I'd like to keep the price reasonable (under 200 bucks). Thoughts?

Re: Comfortable wedding heels!

  • I'm sorry but I know of no 3-4 inch heels that will be comfortable to be in for 6-8 hours.  Also, comfortable is very subjective to each individual.  What may be comfortable to me may not be comfortable to you.

I would take a look at Zappos and DSW and order some shoes and try them out.  With Zappos you at least have free shipping on returns.

  • Like Maggie said what works for me may not work for you. Some of my friends like Steve Madden shoes and I find them terrible. I need a lot of padding in the ball of the foot. I love Nine West- I have 4 inch heels from them (many pairs) that I wear to work all day with no problem. But majority of my job is sitting. I also find Aerosoles and Naturalizer to have some amazing cushioning- check them out. They are both sold at Famous Footwear as well as their own stores.

  • I had great luck with the Ivanka Trump Nanci2 heels for my wedding. I had them on almost 12 hours for my wedding day and they were still reasonably comfortable at the end of a night of dancing. They have a heel just under 3" though, so they might not be tall enough for you.

  • I love Sofft shoes. They're very comfortable for heels.
  • I recently bought a pair of the Cole Haan Chelsea pumps, they have some Nike airsoft pad on the bottom of the platform, and they are pretty comfortable!

If I wanted a closed-toed pump for my wedding I'd probably buy them in another color and use that!
  • 1. Stick to 3 inches or less with a platform heel (the platform helps take some of the height off the heel as far as your foot is concerned). Alternative: wedges!

    2. Don't vanity size your shoes. Buy what fits. I'm anywhere from a 9.5 to an 11 depending on the shoe designer.

    3. When you try on heels, think about how much your feet will swell over the course of the night. Are you trying on the heels on a cold morning? Your feet will not be that small after being on your feet all day. See tip #2.

    4. Don't wear your heels fresh out of the box on the big day. Break them in! And not just walking around your house, wear them out to dinner or to work or something. Not only will you start breaking them in, but you can also see where they rub and use some moleskin on that spot on the day-of.

I used to wear heels all the time in college, but over the years my knees aren't as great as they used to be from running. These are my heel bylaws now. The key for me was breaking out of the "this is my shoe size" mentality. I have to order two pairs of shoes now if I online shop and send one back, but it is what it is.
  • Check out Cole Haan Air, significantly more comfortable that other heels.
  • I love Giani Bini heels. That is pretty much the only brand I wear. I wear heels every day so I am used to them but as PPs have said, it depends on your comfort level with higher heels. I usually wear a 4 inch heel or more.

And make sure you rbreak them in! Wear them multiple times to get a feel of how to walk in them and to get rid of any "blister", soft, spots.

  • @eas1223 thanks for the Ivanka Trump shoes suggestion, I have been looking for heels under 3" (my dress isn't long enough for me to wear anything higher) and I have had no luck finding anything cute--let alone comfortable! Just ordered them to check out the color and see if it will work...but it's great to have a lead.  Thanks for sharing!
  • I bought these: http://ninashoes.com/fern-ivory-chunky-glitter--16484?c=210

I was originally looking for higher heels with a platform and lace sides.  Well, I had these on one foot and something similar to what I was looking for on the other.  These were much more comfortable for me.  The heel is the perfect height for my dress so I won't need to hem it and it's also perfect for me to comfortably walk in.  It's a short heel and no platform but I love the way they feel under foot when I'm walking in them (of course I've been wearing them around the house..).

  • If you truly want comfortable shoes, I will let you in on my secret! I am wearing character shoes that dancers wear on stage for theater or dance productions. They aren't fancy looking but they are super comfy and wearable. You can order in various heel heights and even customize the color and style, with certain upscale brands. They start at $50 dollars and depending on what you want, can be over $200. I'm big into performing, so I treated myself to a lovely new pair from LaDuca Shoes for my big day and since I will wear them again after, for me it was worth it. It was more important to me to have comfortable shoes for my wedding day versus something expensive and ornate that I wouldn't use again.
