Madison venues

Would love suggestions on Madison venues.  Looking for something very "Madison", not just a random hotel ballroom that could be anywhere.

Suggestions for ceremony venues, reception venues, or places that can do both would be great!

Something next to the water might be good. It seems like with all these lakes arund there are very few places where you can be next to the lake!   Rooftop?  Places that aren't as traditionally known...  Maybe a park on one of the lakes?

Wedding size will be probably 60-80.

I've seen people do weddings at Olbrich Gardens. It is across the street from Lake Monona and is something Madison and different. The Overture Center for the Arts is really cool for weddings. My friend did her pictures there and they were stunning. I worked a Christmas party at The Frank Lloyd Wright/Monona Terrace. That is also right on Lake Monona. Not on the lake but Winnequah Park in Monona is beautiful and they have a newer gazebo.

I have a friend getting married next year on a yatch on Lake Geneva, I know that Madison has a few cruise lines that offer weddings, if that is something you'd like. You'd get pictures with the lake in and the capitol in the background. If you're ok going up to the Dells, I know The Dells Boat tours offers wedding cruises and if you wanted to do a shore landing dinner they can set that up.

I've found googling "________ wedding venues"(substitute whatever city) they have a ton of suggestions.

  • Just off the top of my head that is very "Madison" or a park like setting would be Olbrich Gardens(and it is across the street from Lake Monona), Winnequah Park in Monona or maybe try about renting the Barrymore Theater. If you are ok with being on the lake, Betty Lou Cruise's does weddings. The Overture Center, Monona Terrace, East Side Business Men's Club, The Majestic Theater are some other ones.
