NEW: Nonprofit grants weddings to couples facing life-threatening illness

Re: NEW: Nonprofit grants weddings to couples facing life-threatening illness

  • I think that's fantastic.

This absolutely broke my heart, though: "After brain surgery in 2005, Konnie's first husband found her passed out on the floor. He decided he couldn't care for her anymore, and left her broke and homeless."
  • Yes, this hurt to read this too - I had neurosurgery to remove a tumor off my brain in 1990, which left me disabled. That was 24 years ago...
  • Oh that is so sweet. So happy for the couples that they have been able to help so far!
  • I'm not generally a big fan of the charity wedding thing but I am glad that she gets some happiness after being left like that, it's very sad.

    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • There was a heartwarming story after Hurricane Katrina about a couple who'd had their wedding planned for the Saturday before the storm and (obviously) had needed to postpone it.  They evacuated to a shelter in Baton Rouge and when word got out as to what had happened (not advertised by them) there were a ton of vendors who volunteered their services.  Thanks to the generosity of others, the couple was able to have their wedding a short time later.

It's things like this that make a person feel good that they've been able to help during an extremely stressful time.
