engagement shoot attire suggestions...?

hey all!

we are doing our engagement shoot on a beach. do you have suggestions for what my fiance and i should wear? i have a general idea of what i'd like.... would like some thoughts... what are you wearing/have you worn?

Re: engagement shoot attire suggestions...?

  •  This kinda depends on the 'look' you're going for. If I was doing something beach themed, I'd probably do khaki shorts for both, collared shirt for him, and a flow-ey blouse or top of some sort, for me. I'd also likely do it without sandals for the 'walking in the sand' pics.

You could always do cut-off pants, t-shirts & sandals for a more casual approach. Or a dress for you, and the untucked dress shirt, and shorts or cut-offs for him. I definitely wouldn't go the bathing suit route.

We did outdoor pictures for our engagement photos as well. (More forest/lake/hiking stuff). We both wore blue jeans, and black t-shirts. (Same as my profile pic).

I think there's definitely a few different looks you could go for. It just depends on what you're wanting, & also what suits the both of you as a couple.

     Have fun!

  • Before our engagement session, our photographer sent us a little information booklet that included wardrobe suggestions: something that matches your personality and is authentic to you, no small prints, coordinating but not matching, and bright colors (only if that's something you're comfortable in). And most important, something that makes you feel gorgeous. I wore a yellow dress, denim jacket, and red heels; my then-FH wore a red plaid shirt, tweed blazer, and jeans.

  • I think that a flowy dress would be nice for you, and maybe shorts or pants and a button down shirt for your fiance.  Examples:

I'd wear a flowy sundress, him in khaki's and button down or khaki shorts with a button down.
  • We did a beach engagement shoot. I had two outfits. Something a little dressy, and something fun. FI didn't change, but didn't want to. The first we used for our Save the Dates, but the second is my favorite.

  • Get a pair of slammin' wedges!!

I just got my pics back, the best ones were of me with a little bit of a heel to the shoe I was wearing.  (We had ours done in the snow, so heels weren't an option all of the time.)

Also remember to do your make-up heavier than normal (unless you are coordinating your make-up trial run with your engagement pics).  Try to coordinate with your FI, but don't do "matching".. for example: I did a pistascio colored cardigan with a bright teal tank top underneath, and FI wore a peacock blue sweater with a light blue collared shirt underneath.  The background wasn't very colorful (waterfall in New England in March- there we still snow, so it was snow, water, and rocks in the background) so the colors of our clothes really popped against the background.

  • thanks everyone!

thanks to internet shopping and free returns, i went crazy online and bought lots of options.... most flowy off-white dresses, one a pink ombre dress, and a yellow linen top i can wear with shorts.

    now to decide!!

as far as shoes go, i am a notorious shoe-hater, so we will likely be barefoot.

    thanks again!
  • I got a cream/ivory hi-low dress, and I'm not sure what he is going to wear yet... maybe khakis and a light blue polo.
