Do guests really hate weddings that much?

FWIW, I also like bridal showers.

As long as the people don't treat me like a checkbook, (lol, joke's on them.. boxed gift-giver here, baby!) I am excited about any social gathering.. especially when it comes to weddings!

I also would totally have a blast at a dry wedding, but that's because I don't drink very much on a regular basis. My philosophy since I was in college has been, "If it's not fun unless I'm drunk, it's not actually FUN."

My cousin and his (then) FI had a slideshow at their rehearsal dinner. It was after dinner and before thanking everyone for coming. It was fun to watch it (pretty short) because it had funny family photos in it, so people were laughing. 

My SIL and brother had a slideshow at their wedding for SIL's deceased father. It was a touching short slideshow. Maybe I just like slideshows because these didn't go over 10 minutes and they were funny/touching. 

Another family member had a slideshow of her and her FI, and it was mainly them. That slideshow was a bore. I don't care if you've been to a bunch of different countries. Most photos were the couple and some hill/mountain/beach in the background.

I have to say I love weddings. I really do. Maybe I have just been lucky, I am also very low maintenance. I have of course seen things that could be better, or that I thought were tacky, but never to the extent of making me wish I had stayed home
