Lacey/Sexy Lingerie?

Just a random question.... I have gone to a few places to try on some dresses and have just worn a plain nude convertible bra, with some, what I call, no wedgie panties that show no lines and stick like a model's bikini without the spray glue. My FMIL laughed at me when I told her I was going to wear those super comfy panties on my big day and that I was going to have the bridal shop sew in bust cups to the dress bc I'm more than likely going with strapless. She says I can't wear "no wedgie" panties under my dress, where's the sexy surprise for my new hubby? I always thought those over-the-top sexy/lacey things were meant for the wedding night, not to be worn under my dress...?

Your FMIL is wrong, (at least, in my opinion).  You are going to get hot & sweaty in your gown.  Those dresses are heavy.   You are going to want to freshen up after you get out of your dress. Save the lingerie for then.

He can always unzip you out of your dress and then you go 'slip into something a little less comfortable' and surprise him with some new lingerie.  Sheesh, why is your FMIL so concerned about what kind of underwear you wear 'for' her son?

Yeah, why is this a conversation you're having with our FMIL? Wear something comfortable and change later. Or save the lacy stuff for the honeymoon. Or heck, skip it altogether!

For your wedding day the last thing you want is for your undergarments to be uncomfortable, ride up or give you a wedgie. Wear what is comfortable for you under your dress because picking a wedgie through your wedding dress is pretty darn hard. Edited because spelling is hard.

I think its super awkward that your FMIL is commenting on your underwear and your wedding night.

I wore a thong under my dress (I wear thongs everyday) its what was most comfortable to me.  When we got back to our hotel room, H and I both took showers since we were sweaty from dancing. While he showered I put on something lacey.

I agree with all the PP's wear what is comfortable the day of the wedding and then change into something else once you and your hubby are alone.

 I can only assume you must be *super* close with your FMIL, & even then, for her state what kind of underwear you should wear for her son on your wedding day, is just odd. Lol. 

 Not every bride has the option of wearing a special matching lingerie set with their dress anyways. I wore fancier panties, but I had to wear a specific bra, because I also had a strapless dress. I'd just change once you get back to your hotel room, if you want to wear something specific.

LOL, the conversation only came up because while I was trying on certain dresses I needed help getting into/out of them. I'm not sure how many of you are on the other boards, but I have a much closer relationship with her than I do with my own mom. She may have been joking, maybe she was thinking shapewear, which I have looked into, but I think over-all, I'd be most comfy getting bust cups sewn in to prevent the "boob shimmy" of a strapless bra (I can never seem to get one to stay in place) and my no wedgies so I'm not doing the "Kevin James handless wedgie pick" on the dance floor! Thanks for the input everyone!

I struggled with this too. When my FMIL learned I was wearing black control shorts under my dress she about died. "Why not white?" Because I'm not spending another $60 on something that no one will see!!! I have sexy lingerie I'll change into after I get the dress off. Day of- comfort first!
