Dance Etiquette

My father has passed, therefore there is not going to be a father/daughter dance.  The groom's father has passed also.  Is it proper for me to dance with either the groom's uncle (who is hosting the ceremony at his beachfront home) or the groom's brother?

Re: Dance Etiquette

  • You can dance with anyone you want to dance with.

If it's important to you to have a spotlight dance with any of these people, then that's ok.  My only advice is to limit your spotlight dances because watch 4+ dances can get really boring for guests.

Even if you don't have spotlight dances with them, it's always nice to set aside time during your reception to dance with people you care about.

We did the traditional father-daughter dance and then my husband did a son-mother dance, but that was it.  Late in the evening though, I made sure to dance with my father-in-law and my brother-in-law.  But it wasn't a spotlight dance people had to watch.
