Bridesmaid dresses, Which is Better?

(1.the first one come here 2.the second one come here)
How to choose? I really like the first, but the second is cheaper.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses, Which is Better?

  • This is really a better question to ask your bridesmaids since they are the ones that will be paying for and wearing it. :)
  • I like the first. My bridesmaids didn't like things with flowers on them and if I were a bridesmaid I wouldn't either. But sometimes they let you order a dress without the flowers, bows, etc.
  • I prefer the first.  What do your BMs think?

  • I personally like the second one, I think the top looks a softer. The first one the top looks like you wouldn't be able to breath. The deal breaker would be how the bottom fits though on the body type of your BM. The first one is probably going to be more forgiving to a BM who may have larger hips or a little bit of a belly, but the second one would look great if your BM has more of a straighter body.

  • I like the first dress, but I agree that your girls' budgets should be nailed down first so you can choose dresses within their comort zone. After that, you can have your hardest to fit maid try on a couple dresses to see what looks best on her, chances are if the hard to fit maid feels comfy and looks great, the rest will look and feel great as well.
  • I don't like the flower on the pink one.

  • The first one.  It is more classic and elegant.  The flower cheapens it.  Also, with the right jewelry, the first one could be dressed up to be worn again to something black tie.  The flower on the second one makes it tough to wear again.
  • I LOVE the second one but I'm a sucker for flowers.
  • I don't like the flower, so I like the first, but could you just let your BMs pick from the two?
  • I tried on a BM dress like the 2nd one for my friends wedding.  I hated it.  I tried to talk her into a dress like the 1st one because it was flattering for everyone (lots of different figures and a pregnant lady) and it was comfortable but she didn't like it (grrr).

So I would pick the first one.

What are your BMs budgets?  Do they both fit into that budget?  If so then let your BMs vote and the majority win.

  • Sorry this is off topic but is anyone else thinking what the hell is with that second background?! What is with the pile of mattresses, like she just woke up at a dirty frat house or something. Why would they style it like that?! lol

I prefer the first. The second appears to be pretty unflattering, which is an impressive feat when it's being modeled on a size two.

I bet the goal was to make her look like a princess...the stacked mattresses are very "the princess and the pea."
  • I like both but I like flowers and will have my bridesmaids try on a similar style dress just shorter.  But i do agree that the 1st one will flatter almost any body type.  Leave it up to your bridesmaids.

  • I like the 1st one. I have just a MOH and my future stepdaughter is junior bridesmaid. I chose the color, they chose the style. Well, kind of...my future stepdaughter insisted that she wanted to wear a long dress and I just went with it. But that's beside the point. My MOH tried on about 5 dresses that we had previously scoped out on the web and the one she chose was similar to the 1st. It looks AMAZING on her and I kind of want to have it shortened for her after the wedding so she can wear it again without it screaming "leftover from a wedding". that dress is going to be flattering on most body types. The second one...not so much...and the flower makes it virtually impossible to ever wear again. Long story short...maybe you should let your maids pick the dress they like based on parameters you set (e.g color, length, fabric, strapless, etc.). At the end of the day, you want them to all look and feel gorgeous, right!?

  • Have you asked each of your bridesmaids, privately, what their budget is?  That's where you need to start.

  • I love the first one! its beautiful.

Definitely ask the bridesmaids too though.  Make sure you know which they prefer and if the budget is a big issue for them
  • I would choose the 1st one. I actually really dislike the look of the 2nd.

I think you best option however would be to let your BMs vote on it as Maggie had suggested.
