Slip or no slip? Oleg Cassini Style CWG546

So this is my dress - Oleg Cassini's Organza Ball Gown with Beaded Lace Bodice - Style CWG546 - from David's Bridal.

Do I really need to wear a slip under it? I don't want it to be any puffier than it already is but the sales woman at David's Bridal told me if I don't wear the slip, the dress will go between my legs when I walk. Is that true? Is there anything else I can do to prevent that other than wearing a slip? Has anyone else worn this dress with or without the slip? Any ideas/thoughts are greatly appreciated! Please & thank you!

Re: Slip or no slip? Oleg Cassini Style CWG546

  • I got the same spiel when I bought my dress from DB. I ended up buying the one for my dress and it doesn't add any extra weight (or puffiness). The sales lady also said that if I didn't want the mermaid slip I should still do a basic slip since some light might make the dress look sheer.
  • I bought a slip at the last minute for my dress.  The slip actually did help prevent the dress from going in between my legs.  I didn't realize that was going to happen until I went back to get my bustle fixed 2 days before the wedding and when they asked me to walk around the layers underneath get going in between my legs making it awkward to walk around.  I kind of had to keep kicking at my dress so it wouldn't happen.

FYI - I didn't get my dress from DB

What about going back to the store trying your dress on with and without a slip and taking a walk around the store to see if it feels better or not.  You can buy slips a lot of places if you don't feel like spending a lot on the one's at DB.

  • Go try your dress on again - with heels and walk around in it.  I always see DB slips for sale on the classified boards here, tradesy, eBay, etc - so you can find one used and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it.
