Getting dress pressed Thursday before wedding- crazy?

I'm taking my dress out with me to California my wedding. The plan is to get it pressed there on Thursday before the wedding instead of before I go so it is as nice as possible. My fmil is freaked out that it won't be enough time. I'm starting to worry.

My other option would be to bring it with me this weekend to my Bachelorette party then have one of my bridesmaids drive it another 1.5 hours to my fmil so she can take care of it... Seems like a lot to ask people and a lot of opportunity for something to go wrong.

As a note, my fmil lives closest to the venue and already have a cleaner who did her daughter's dress and a niece's dress. My family is 90 miles away without those types of relationships.

I think if your FMIL wants to be responsible for it then let her since she does have a cleaner who did her daughter's and nieces dresses and she's close to the venue. Doing it yourself the Thursday before might be pushing it close

I guess I'm confused why the Thursday before is "too close"? I thought you wanted it done as close to the wedding as possible. My dress was steamed/pressed about 2 days before my wedding.

I travelled across the country for my wedding. I dropped off my dress on Wednesday to be steamed, the seamstress steamed the dress Thursday, and the dress will be picked up Friday. When I was making arrangements for getting my dress pressed I was told they need 24 hours so the dress can dry.

Thanks you've all made me feel better! @hlvonb it will be going to my fmil's cleaner. It's just a matter of if she drops it off next week or I'd I drop it off the Thursday before. I think I feel more comfortable taking it out the wedding week opposed to relying on others to handle it anyways.
