@KeptInStitches- Fingers crossed for no asbestos! I'm glad it looks like there won't be any. I feel like it's partly my fault you're doing this, but better safe than sorry, right?

    @blue - You're getting married in 8 days!!

Today I have a super important interview for an internship I really want. It pays really well and the company is awesome and the internship is exactly what I want. I'm so nervous because it's super competitive. For dinner I'm going to meet BF at his workplace and eat dinner with him while he's on on his break. After that, I'm going shopping with my mom for fabric for the quilt my grandmother is making me. I have the pattern and everything, so all that's left is the fabric.

Tomorrow I'm lazing/studying in the morning and going out with BF after he finishes work. We haven't gone out to dinner in a really long time, so I'm hoping we can swing it.

Sunday I'm eating lunch with my parents and then studying more. I have a test in a class I'm not doing well in (my learning style is the opposite of the professor's teaching style and I still haven't figured out a way to combat it) on Monday, so I have to study my butt off for that. I may hang out with BF if I have time, but it's not looking so good.

  • @FoxandBunny, there's a good chance that if we feel there might be some upstairs we'll just stay away from the mudding compound and not touch the walls. The other way of dealing with it is to not disturb it. Plus there are no laws that say asbestos must be removed in my area. The only reason we'd do the basement is we plan to renovate that.
  • @Foxandbunny are there any textbook resources with your text?  most of the books I teach from have these cool online tutorial sections (I say "cool" mainly because they didn't exist when I was in school).  Not sure if that's even possible in your field, but it's worth a shot :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @KeptInStitches - That is true. You can always just leave it alone and it's probably the smart thing to do in this situation. It's just such a scary thing to me, especially after seeing my brother lose a house over it.

    @TwoDimes - Thank you!

Blue & White - Unfortunately, that's my problem. My teacher essentially doesn't teach and says just read the book, but I do much better with discussion based learning. I have tried reading and rereading the textbook, using all the online tools (quizzes, flashcards, games, ect.), and everything he's suggested but it hasn't helped at all. It really frustrates me because I understand the material and participate in class but I bomb the tests. I've gone to talk to my professor about it twice and he says my scores obviously don't reflect my actual knowledge, but his only suggestion is read the textbook.

  • @FoxandBunny, I can understand your concern. Stuff like that just lodges in my head, but the good part is BF and I are dealing with it together as a team and getting the information we need. So yay for teamwork.

Good luck with your interview and I hope your class starts going better.
  • @KeptInStitches - Yay teamwork! And thank you!

  • @FoxandBunny I always suggest my students try to teach the material to their dog/cat/kid/stuffed animal lol.  Also, try not to overthink the tests - a lot of my students miss out on points because they answer the wrong questions (which baffles me a bit, but that's details.)  I know this is easier said than done, of course.  It sounds like you might benefit from a study group, but keep in mind that most people don't benefit from a study group so it may be hard to find someone that would be a good groupmate.  Good luck - I hope you're able to overcome this stumbling block!

  • @severmilli12 I really didn't have to do anything special for our engagement pics, haha.  Just be ourselves and follow some directions from the photographer :)  I think they came out pretty nice though!  So I'm sure you will be just fine!

  • @severmilli12 I'm so nervous too! I'm worried that the camera is going to add on 100 lbs to my already large frame. Ughhh...

  • @FoxandBunny - It might be a little late in the semester for this but study groups are awesome for when you don't get the discussion you need in class. I have a group I meet with before tests just so we can talk it all out because that's how a lot of us learn.

This weekend is blah for me. Today I'm guest lecturing on health communication in one of my professor's classes. Should be interesting. A student I had last semester who hates me is in that class and I'm not looking forward to teaching her again, even for one class.

Tomorrow I'm presenting at a conference. I need to meet with 2 of my colleagues today to make sure we're ready for that. And then I'll drive down to see BF.

Sunday GAME OF THRONES SEASON PREMIERE!!!! I couldn't be more excited!! I'm staying down at BF's place and extra day just so I don't miss it. I'll have to drive up early on Monday to be to work on time but it's totally worth it!

@severmilli12 omg that made me forget that if the camera isn't angled correctly, it looks like I have a float-ey eye (which I don't!)

    GAHHHHH!!!!!!!

ETA: Also, FI has one of those smiles that looks like he's trying too hard. Or he'll just grin. I'm like "please practice your smile". I caught him in the mirror the other day practicing, I about died.

@buddysmom80 I hope I didn't do a faux pas with the "Formal invitation to follow". I just realized that it might have been kind of a duh thing to leave on there. Oops...

  • I love them @lmhollister!

I didn't know "formal invitation to follow" was a faux pas. We're putting them on our STDs because a lot of the older guests didn't get STDs back in the day and they would probably assume this is our wedding invitation.

    You look gorgeous!!!!

@buddysmom80 I feel like I've seen some girls get flack for putting that on there on TK. I dunno. I feel the same way as you...some of our guests might think this is the ACTUAL invitation. Especially some of our older guests.

ETA: Thank you!! I can't wait to see your e-pics! I love all of your outfit and accessory choices! Also...my FI made A TON of goofy and forced smiles and so many of our pictures still turned out great. He's not good at being in front of the camera...he prefers to be the one taking pictures so he got tired of smiling after awhile. Yours will be great!

  • @lmhollister pretty sure Invitation/Formal invite to follow isn't a big deal.  If it is, I did it too!

I'm totally saving October 18th...unless we're on our honeymoon, in which case um no :)  Cause I don't think we're honeymooning in Georgia, though you never know!

Also, guys, my venue coordinator isn't calling me back.  I just want to pay her, dangit!  (it has only been like 15 minutes, so I'm really just a bit impatient)

  • @lmhollister thanks! I'm so nervous for our photo shoot but I know my photographer will do a good job!

@blue you sounded like me when I wanted to pay a deposit on our venue to hold our date. I called FI "FI, X hasn't called back from the venue."

    "When did you call?"

    "Five minutes ago"

@buddysmom80 I think I stressed more over the photo shoot than anything else wedding related (so far)! And our pictures turned out beautifully! Just trust in your photographer and everything will turn out great!

  • @lmhollister- I put "Formal Invitation to Follow" on my STDs and you didn't tell me about any faux pas stuff?!?!? Oh well.

J has Chandler face in photos. He's so nervous about it for engagement photos.

@FoxandBunny Totally agree with what @blue said. The most common mistakes I see from students on tests is that they either overthink the question, they answer a different question, or sometimes both. Or they don't answer the question completely. And I find the BEST way to study is to teach the material to someone or something. Teach it to classmates if you can, and if you can't, pets or stuffed animals work well. When you teach, out loud, you figure out exactly what you don't know. And, even better, it's easier to remember the material if you can understand it well enough to teach it.

@lmhollister Your save the dates look GREAT!! I didn't know "formal invitation to follow" was rude--it just lets your guests know, "This isn't the invitation but you WILL get one." We didn't write "formal invitation to follow," but we did write "This isn't the invitation but you WILL get one" (albeit more politely) on the wedding website.
