UK Bride Invitation Wording

We have been contemplating how to word our invitations. We are hoping to have a date and everything booked by the end of this month for our wedding in October 2015. We will want to get the invites/ Save the dates out soon after so the people who can come with us to Vegas can plan and book etc as we are coming from the UK. I think it will only be close family coming with us and a couple of close friends. However, I want to invite aunties and uncles etc so they have the option if they do want to come. I'm just a little unsure on how to word the invites because I don't want people to feel bad if they can't come. We will be having a reception in the UK when we return anyway so we can celebrate with those who can't attend. We are also broadcasting the wedding so people at home can watch. Anybody have any thoughts? :)

Re: UK Bride Invitation Wording

  • Hi there!
I'm a UK bride and had some of the same concerns as you, we invited 30 people and this is how we worded that part on our wedding website (we didn't do print invitations):

You are cordially invited to our wedding in Las Vegas next year on April 14th 2014, we are not sending paper invites, instead below is the address of our wedding website - this contains all of the information you need to know and also a place to RSVP to the invite when you know you are definitely coming. If you have any questions that aren't answered on the website please let us know. We know that making the trip to be with us at our wedding requires time and money so we understand that it won't be possible for everyone to attend. Please do not worry if you are not able to make it, you can view the ceremony online shortly after it takes place and we will celebrate with you all properly when we return from our honeymoon at our 'home reception'.

  • Thank you so much for your reply! I never thought about doing just a website. That makes things a lot easier and then we can put the link to web viewing on there too! We may still send save the date magnets to remind people of the date but perhaps have a link to a website on the bottom instead of a paper invite! Thanks so much!! :)
  • We printed ours and sent them to close friends and family - ones that we would have invited to our wedding at home. The wording was we hope you can join us, however if you can't please don't worry we will be having an at home celebration in autumn 2014 (which we are just planning now!)
Our invites were from www.angelfins.co.uk and she created a bespoke boarding pass vegas themed invite.
  • Oh wow there website is amazing! I love the idea of a boarding pass. Have you got any pictures of them? :) How did people respond to the invites?

I think they are on the website, they are the ones with the Vegas sign on the pocket fold. We then had RSVP's that were like a luggage label that said.. Yes.. The bags are packed No ..declines with regret. She designed some for us first of all with a deck of cards design but we went for the vegas sign instead and people loved them! Here is the link,
