Happy Monday (hahahaha)!

How was everyone's weekend?

Friday FI got home early from work. We took Quigley for a walk and made taco for dinners.

Saturday we dropped off FMIL's computer at her house and tried Taco Bell breakfast (it sucked), I went for a wax, then we drove to the outlets to buy FI two outfits for our e-photo shoot, see below:

imageimage

After that I met up with my MOH while FI went to GameStop. We talked about what was going on. Her resonse: "It's the first time I've been a MOH and the first big even lately where I haven't been the center of attention". I told her the shitty pins, ideas, etc were bothering us and she said she'll try to stop. We'll see how that goes. I'm just trying to distance myself from her right now.

We went to the jeweler to see how much it would cost to have a non-Simon G version of my wedding band. The jeweler wanted to charge MORE than what the actual wedding band would cost, so FI is going to have to go back to the jeweler to order my band and his band

Saturday night we went to his BM and my BM's house for CAH and snacks. We didn't get home until midnight.

Sunday the cable guy came over to fix our cable box (I didn't even notice it was broke, that's how much I haven't been watching TV), we ate breakfast and went with our neighbor/GM to Home Depot. Neighbor and FI fixed our gutter in the front yard, then we all kicked back and had some beers and hard cider. FI figured out how to stream movies from his computer to his XBox One wirelessly through an app so we were on a movie watching binge. We watched Anchorman 2 and The Butler.

This weekend I have to do a ton of yardwork, the winter destroyed my front yard.

Re: Happy Monday (hahahaha)!

  • @Buddysmom80 - Love the new outfits for your engagement pics...especially the vest! Can't wait to see the photos after you two get them done!

Friday H and I decided to have a movie night and went to the cheap seats to see The Monument Men. It was such a great story and really gave a new perspective on WWII. It was a 9:45 movie though, so we were zonked when we got home.

Saturday we slept in (a rare treat for us!) and had a relaxing start to our day. I met up with two of my girlfriends for Starbuck's who I hadn't seen in about a month. We ended up going to see Divergent and LOVED it! I wasn't sure what they'd think because neither of them had read the books, but now they both are starting the series. After I got home H took us out for a Sushi date night. We had a great time and then went for a walk around the local lake.

Yesterday I mostly attacked my guest room closet. My mom is coming next week, so it was great motovation to finally clean out some things and get re-organized. I had no idea how many wedding items i'd stuffed in there last year. May be time to post some things on Craigslist!

@buddysmom80 It sounds like your MOH at least took the conversation well. I love the outfits your FI is wearing for the photo shoot! I wish I could get my fi into a sweater vest but he refuses because he "hates v-necks" ugh. He is so picky about clothes and sometimes I just quit trying.

It's raining buckets outside and I feel completely blah. At least traffic wasn't as shittastic as it could have been since some of the counties in our area are out for spring break. Friday FI and I went out for his birthday with some friends for Indian food and then we all got a bunch of craft beers at a bar afterwards. We had really wanted to go to a local brewery but they close at 9 (wtf? It's Friday night!) so we didn't make it in time.

Saturday I went shopping with my mom. I bought a grapevine wreath and some succulent fillers because I've decided on a succulent wreath for summer! Sort of like this one:image

Sunday we celebrated FI's birthday with my family. We played Telestrations which is seriously the most hilarious game ever! None of us can draw so everyone is always like...wth is this? And then they guess something completely random. BIL took a cute picture of me snuggling with my Bella-boo and Chey Chey.

    image

I also found this sweet shirt on Etsy last night...and yes...I bought it. But it was so perfect that I couldn't pass it up. Thanks Pinterest for making me spend all my money.

  • Friday - Went to Cleveland Gladiators game (Arena football).  Gladiators won (As did the Cleveland Indians for their home opener).  I really didn't want to be there and was just cranky.

Saturday - I don't remember what I did in the morning.... hmmm it was just that boring and non-eventful.  I think I watched a few recorded shows?  I don't remember.  In the afternoon I put together my Raspberry Pi computer and tried to load minecraft onto it.  I have not been able to get it to work as a minecraft server, other people have been able to do it, so more tweaking might have to take place.  I want it to work darn-it!

Sunday - Attempted more things to make the mincraft-raspberry-pi server work, still not working.  UHG, other people have done it so I know it should work, it's just more tweaking and it's frustrating me.  I probably just need to become more familiar with the configuration file to know what I can scale down on.  We went to see Flash Dance at Cleveland Playhouse Square - it was really good/fun and I think a great way to end the weekend.

Oh, while I was getting ready to go to the play, I had let the dogs out and I heard my one dog barking up a storm and the new renters kids sounded REALLY close - I saw them trying to pick each other up  to pet my dog who is not friendly in the slightest and had to yell at them - They were on my property while doing this.  Where the hell is their parental-unit?!?!  Next time I see the parental/guardian person I think I'm going to just let them know that my dogs are not friendly (even though the one is, she's large and sometimes nips and I'm afraid a kid might mistake a young puppy-nip as a bite) and that I do have the fence/gate there for a reason.  I hate to be *THAT* grumpy get-off-my-lawn neighbor, but if that's what it's going to take to keep these kids off my property. I'm trying to decide what all signs to post on my fence - beware of dog, no trespassing, keep gate closed - I wish they had a sign with all 3 but it's always just 2 of them.

@Buddysmom80 I'm glad that you talked to your MOH, i don't recall seeing it, but what was she doing on pinterest!? How unfortunate you have to deal with that!

My weekend was very low key, I can't even remember what I did on Friday, I think it was just a tv and hanging out night, Saturday I spent the day shopping and going to lunch with my mom.  Then our daughter had a sleepover with my mom. My boyfriend and I laughed at how we finally had a night to ourselves and we did absolutely nothing, in fact I was sleeping at 10:30.  Sunday I had chemistry class (I attend evening/weekend classes).  I came home to see that my daughter had a very interesting red dotted rash on her arm, I called the nurse line and they suggested we go in.  It turns out she was bleeding under her skin....No known cause at this time but we have to make sure it doesn't show up elsewhere or again.

  • @Imhollister - LOVE the wreath. I have a grapevine wreath on my front door and just change out the stems/ribbon seasonally. (Yes, I still have evergreen and holly on it now) I had been toying with the idea of using leftover succulents from my wedding (I have tons) for my spring wreath and maybe adding a monogram "G" now that we have the same last name! Your pic above makes it official...i'm totally doing it this week!
  • @buddysmom80 - YAY for getting outfits for your engagement photos.  Hopefully MOH can reel it in!!  So are you getting the Simon G ring?!?!

@allusive007 - You just reminded me, I would like to read Divergent, must find time.  I'll rent the movie when it becomes available.

@Imhollister - Your shirt reminds me of one I have. I got my shirt from a site called 'one more mile' - on the front it has the 'one more mile' logo and on the back it says 'Dear God, please let there be somebody behind me to read this'.

@BreMR - Hope your daughter is ok!!

@lmhollister I had to force FI into that outfit. His "dressed up" is usually the first picture. A button down shirt and jeans.

@bremr long story short, my MOH was sending me unsolicited pins from Pinterest that were just HORRIBLE. She would make these horrible suggestions and it was bothering me. It was like she was making my wedding a joke. I never even asked her for suggestions, this is just like out of the blue. It was so annoying. She's a big AW so I'm not surprised at her response.

ETA: @dignity100 yes, FI is buying the Simon G matching band. I'm so happy!

    @lmhollister LOVE that wreath!!

@dignity100, thank you so much, me too! I'm trying not to be that mom and google everything, but he did mention leukemia, so basically it's something super easy or something completely horrible..but he didn't seem very concerned...so I'm trying not to dwell.

@Dignity100 I also bought a similar tank with the Starbucks logo on it except the woman in the logo is pumping iron or something. And another one that says "Just Don't Quit". But the wine one was my favorite...because wine. :)

  • This weekend we celebrated our last single weekend lol. Well we didn't set out to do that but then FI's dad sent him a text asking what he was doing on his last single Sunday and we've been making fun of that ever since.

Saturday FI worked so he wouldn't have to take unpaid leave for our wedding (since he just started this job he just barely has enough leave time) and I had a concert to play in. So I basically just saw him before we went to bed.

Sunday FI worked for four hours or so and we washed his car, did a dry run of fitting all our wedding stuff in the car, and watched the orioles actually win a game (shocker). All in all a good weekend!

  • My weekend was super busy.  Friday night I had a show, it went really well and my dad came.  I was really upset the whole weekend, my mom never showed up to see the show, she knew I had the lead and how important it was to me.  My dad loved it and was really impressed, he even commented that I should be doing this professionally.

Saturday we had pre-cana all day. It was pretty boring I was hoping to get more out of it than we did.  Saturday was closing night of the show it was a good show and real emotional. Sunday we were pretty busy, we went to the jewelry store and FI picked out his wedding band!!! Yay! I also created our card box and painted the mailbox like from the movie Up. It came out pretty good. Ekkk invitations are going out today too!!!!! So a lot of WR stuff on the checklist got done.

Not feeling well at all today it's TOTM and I just want to sleep on a heating pad.. is it 5 yet?

@buddysmom80, glad the conversation with your MOH went somewhere; hopefully she will calm it down with the strange Pins and ideas. Can't wait for you guys to take your e-pics!

@allusive007, glad you had such a relaxing weekend! It's so good to see your name popping up more often. :)

@lmhollister, I LOVE the doggies. And the running shirt.

@Dignity100, that's just wrong with the kiddos basically trying to jump the fence to pet your dogs. I hope you run into some parental units soon, because it's scary that even though you are doing all the right stuff, people are still apparently ignoring it.

@BreMR, I hope your little girl is doing OK with her rash!

This weekend was overall pretty good. On Thursday (technically not part of the weekend, but hey, it was a long weekend for a few folks, right?), BFF and I finished her programs and spent the evening having girl-talk, which was fun.

Friday, I spent the day running around arranging things for my service learning project (finally it's all put together and now I just have to do the hours). Mom and brother were out that evening, so I ordered a pizza, baked some cookies and cream cupcakes, and caught up on some Netflix. It was suuuuuuch a nice lazy evening.

Saturday I worked 7-7, but it was a great day at work. I love my job. :) I was feeling exceptionally good at the end of the shift, so I went with BFF to see her FI's band playing. They were really good (although the singer kept forgetting the lyrics to the country songs!). I had to leave around 11 because I had work the next day and the place was an hour away from my house. My friend texted me later to say that the bass player asked her why I had to leave so early. Apparently he thought I was cute and wanted to talk to me more. Sooooo whoot whoot, I still got game! (Bahaha, not really, but that was nice to hear.)

Sunday I worked 7-3 and it was a STUPID day where everything went wrong. I came home and took a quick nap, then my family went out for a family friend's birthday for dinner, and that was pretty much it.

ETA: @Blue, go O's! And gahhhhhhhhhhh, so close to the big day!

@peaseblossom55, I'm sorry your mom didn't make it to see your play, was she sick? Either way, :( Hope your day goes fast so you can relax soon!

  • @peaseblossom55 pics of the mailbox?!

Also I just remembered I have to cut FI's hair tonight lol. This time it kinda counts for something so I better do a good job!

  • @CLoGreenEyes - Thanks! You are so sweet to say that. I actually took my MIL to a grief group last week. She didn't want to go by herself for the first time and H really needed a break. It was actually very theraputic for me...which I wasn't planning on. I think I might go once in a while just to have an opportunity to talk about how I'm feeling. Everyone there was probably 65+, but they were so welcoming and understanding. One of the ladies said, "we call your position in the family Daughter-In-Love instead of Daughter-In-Law." Considering how much H and I have been through these past 2 months, she couldn't have said anything more meaningful to me in that moment.

  • @allusive007, that is such an incredibly sweet thing for them to say! I'm so glad you, your H, and your MIL all have each other - it really sounds like you are all supporting each other exactly the way you need. It's great that you found the group helpful; sometimes we don't realize how much we have inside of us until we start talking about it!

  • Pretty sure I'm the most boring person ever.  All I did this weekend was work on my dissertation, clean, and do laundry.  I got to FaceTime the Texas ladies and they looked like they were having a blast!  I hope I can be un--boring someday soon.
  • @buddysmom80 - Love the outfits your FI is wearing. Can't wait to see the pics!

@BreMR - I hope your DD is ok! That has to be scary not knowing what's going on.

    @Blue & White - OMG 5 days!

@Sakalicious - You may think you're boring, but I think you're pretty effing awesome. So there's that!

We had an INSANE weekend full of lots of running around. In fact, we drove 265 miles yesterday alone.

Saturday we went to DD's soccer game. We had to leave at 645 am which totally sucked. But after the game we went to a nearby farm for some strawberry picking. The girls picked 11 lbs of strawberries. ELEVEN!

    image

We decided to go to the pool when we got home since it was so stinking hot that day.

On Sunday, we had to be up early again because I had a family photoshoot to do at 830 am. It was a family shoot/first birthday cake smash/pregnancy announcement. It was fun, but I was exhausted at the end. Then we had to go to DD's 2nd soccer game of the weekend. I had my first "mom freak out" moment where I flipped on another player from the opposite team. And after that we drove across the state to visit my family that was in town.

Needless to say, we are all exhausted from this weekend, and I've never seen my family so happy to see Monday morning! I'm ready for a nap!

My weekend was okay. Friday night, we went out with my friends from grad school and got pretty buzzed. Dinner ended up being SUPER expensive because J ordered more drinks than anyone else.

Saturday, I got my hair cut and did some shopping. I went to Paper Source because the ribbon I got for the bouquets and centerpieces is transparant so I wanted some off-white ribbon to go underneath that. I didn't find the ribbon display until after I found gold and silver washi tape, so I bought the washi tape instead. I like it a lot, and it's so much cheaper than more ribbon. Also got some thank-you notes (we don't have ANY and we already got a gift from the registry--thank, Mom!), and then ran to the post office for all the stamps in the universe.

I was supposed to go to a friend's birthday party across town, but I ended up napping, having a terrible nightmare, and waking up with a low-grade fever, so I stayed home. J came home later and we just relaxed the rest of the night.

Yesterday, we got up early to have breakfast with J's family at his grandfather's house. Afterwards, we thought we'd go back to his parents' house to watch the game, but we went to the Science Museum instead. There are some great exhibits there right now, and we also saw an IMAX movie about Jerusalem that was really wonderful. The only snoozer was this exhibit that was apparently about the "innovation of the art of food" which was some of the wankiest, non-sensical, unscientific, irrelevant stuff I've seen. It was basically an entirely pretentious display about elBulli and the head chef and how he revolutionized molecular gastronomy. Except nothing made sense. It was impossible understand each display in the exhibit or how they connected to each other.
