Average photographer price in Milwaukee

Hello,

We are just beginning to plan our wedding - and I am wonder what the average price (reasonable) for a photographer would be??  I've seen websites that quote $4K-$6K, and this seems VERY high....

I'm wondering what an average price for photographers is?  I definately don't think $4K is in our budget!

Any suggestions of good photographers in the Milwaukee are would also be helpful!

Thanks!

I felt the same way when I started looking...3K seemed like it was the minimum.  Really, though, there are photographers around for as little as $1500 for all day coverage.  It depends on what you want.  You just have to look around.  Check some of the older threads for suggestions.

I agree, I can not justify spending that much on photography. After A LOT of resaerch we hired our photographer out of the Waterford area, she had an awesome portfolio and we are getting a full day of photography and an album for $2300 (I think w/out the album it was $1300)
    Her site is www.katietomanphotography.com

    Good luck!

We paid about 3K 2 years ago for our wedding.  Pictures were VERY important to me as that's really the only thing you have for memories after your day is over.  (I also much prefer photos over videography).

The thing to remember is that you get what you pay for.  Don't judge a photographer soley on what you see on their website - they will obviously only put the best photos up.  You might get an idea of their style, but to know what they are truely capable of, you should be asking to see entire shoots from numerous weddings.

You want to make sure that you are getting a quality photographer, one who actually knows how to use their equipment - not just someone with a fancy camera.  You also want someone who can do great post editing after ... this means that the pictures will still look natural, not just being able to do fancy tricks to the pictures.

Take a look at what you get for the price.  For 3K we got 2 photographers (excellent quaily each), 8 hours shooting each, post processing edtiting, all imaged on DVD with the rights tor print, and a photo album, a coffee table style book.

I know that the type of book that we got, flush mounted pages, leather cover, etc. retails for a 200-400, most photographers would sell that DVD and rights to print for upwards of 250-500... so 3K minus all that, minus taxes, divided by 2 photographers for 8 hours plus all the time to post edit them, that came to be a very reasonable "per hour" to pay.

We just signed Riitta Kulinski a few days ago.  She is soooo reasonable and creates a package for you and then DISCOUNTS it!  I fell in love with her work too!

We are using Andrea Friar Photography from Milwaukee...When we booked her, it was $800 for 10 hours...now it's $1000 I think.  She just graduated last May, but we've loved our engagement pics so far, and all her wedding pics look great.  Check her out!
