The worst wedding gifts

This list cracked me up.

#1 is pretty damn bad, but I really truly hate those "Mr. Right" and "Mrs. Always Right" pillows.  One of my friends just posted she and her Fi got them as couch pillows, and I rolled my eyes so hard.  Talk about feeding into those awful nagging wife stereotypes straight from the start.

  • This is fantastic.  #5 is just...wow.

  • The duvet cover....just....no.

  • @KGold80- that was my exact reaction! Though the iPhone case was also pretty atrocious.
  • Ugh... No to all of that.
  • they are all pretty awful

  • I kind of liked the cutting board, personally. But maybe I didn't read enough into it.

Most of those, though, put the 21-inch-in-diameter wood-but-not-food-safe bowl one of DH's family members gave us in perspective.

Wood, but not food safe bowl? WTF kind of wood was it made from?

  • I kinda like the personalized whiskey barrel, but I think it works best as a single whiskey barrel then a his and hers.

Ha, it must be coated in formaldehyde or something.  What do you use a bowl like that for?  Fake fruit?

Bamboo wood, but the coating/glaze isn't food safe. And apparently it's for fake fruit and being displayed on a coffee table and I don't know what all else.

It's one of those 'WTF?!' gifts that made me scratch my head. It was from Crate&Barrel, where we hadn't registered, and they didn't include a gift receipt.

Nevertheless, I wrote a prompt and effusive thank you note. And we're going to be re-gifting it.

  • Too funny..   Although the Sous vide machine would be pretty awesome in our household.

I honestly didn't know they made them for home use.   Ummm...

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I actually know my brother is dying for a Sous vide machine. It was all he spoke about when he used it in culinary school. If he ever gets married and doesn't already own one I know what to get.

  • I would give just about anything for a home sous vide machine. But I'm all about food. I can see how it would be a bad gift for people who aren't like me though.

    Everything else is kinda no...

  • We're actually having the graphic art up at our reception. BUT, we took the time to come up with all non tragic couples.

  • The other day, I saw a couple wearing Mr. Right and Mrs. Always Right sweatshirts. I did ponder upon seeing them if they were a gift or if this couple actually went to a store and thought they were a good idea.

  • This is hysterical. My uncle bought a home sous vide machine about 5 years ago (he's that guy...). He's known as an amazing cook but no one liked anything that came out of the machine. He left me questioning if I'm the level of foodie I had previously thought.

I'm seeing great ideas for an upcoming wedding I have!

  • OKAY I kind of like the cutting board.

The underwear and duvet cover are hilariously bad though.

That one was pretty terrible-- reminds me of all the Great Gatsby themed weddings last summer.
But did you actually read the book....?

With non-tragic couples, of course it's adorable!

  • I actually kind of want the water oven.
  • @JCBride2014 It was freaking hard coming up with enough happy endings characters to make it look good. Seriously, who wants failed romances, affairs, and thirteen year olds as inspiration for a marriage? Give me Ron and Hermione any day!

  • Sleeping Beauty and Handsome Prince? It's Aurora and Philip for goodness sake!

Also, there is nothing wrong with Sophie Kinsella books, snarky writer! Girlfriend went to Oxford, and her books aren't as vapid as they look.
  • I don't even know what a sous vide machine IS.

  • I would love the sous vide machine.  Right now H just uses his mash tun.

One of my cousins assumed we were pagan because of where we live.  Our wedding present was a wood carving of a fertility goddess of sorts.  Um, yeah.  We're not having kids.
