Since there's been a few threads on baby fever lately...

Do you have future names picked out? I'm watching a Dane Cook movie and it hit me that I really like the name Dane lol
I think the ones on top of our list are Anna, Claire, Mark, Jack. We like classic and simple (clearly)

  • FI and I don't really agree on names right now.

But, we do agree they won't be "weird" or unusual spelling, or nicknames as given names, something all too common in his family.

I'm with you though, simple and classic!

We've talked about it a little but not much. We both agree that we want something a little different but not too different. Like we both like Calliope but one of our cats (a calico) is named Callie so that probably won't happen. We have more names we agreed we would never use than ones we would. Lol
  • We like Charlotte for a girl and Vincent for a boy.

  • William (Will) for my grandfather and Margaret (Maggie) for his favourite aunt. They're a little royal trendy together but we'll likely be one and done anyway so it shouldn't be an issue.
I have major baby fever at the moment. There's a baby and toddler consignment sale at my work this weekend and I had to stop myself from buying perfect little baby clothes. Next year!

  • We like Lucas for a boy, but not sure about girl names.

  • Pregnant with our first right now, and we're thinking we're going to name her Hannah.

Had she been a boy, we probably would've gone with Thomas.  I also like Anthony, Dominic, and Jamie for boys, but H didn't like any of those.

  • We have a lot of girls names we like but not many boys names. For a girl we like the names Aria, Juliette, Lilly, and Chloe. For boys I love Parker (SO does not like it) and we both sort of like Mason. But it's going to be a few years before we have kids so who knows what we'll like once we're actually having a kid.

  • I have such baby fever right now, but we wanted to wait until a few months after the wedding to start trying.  I also went to a friend's baby shower yesterday and the outfits she got for her little girl were so cute!!! We haven't talked too much about names yet.  I love for a boy Noah, Jonah,  and Desmond.  I love the name Madeleine for a girl I also like Juliet and Allison.  We'll see what we narrow things down to when I'm actually pregnant.

    Anniversary

  • Yep, we like Vivian for a girl and probably Nathan for a boy. Other boy choices are John, Robert and Asher.
  • @emmyg65 Vivian is so pretty! I also really like Alma and Vera but FI thinks they are old fashioned.

  • Astrid Christine for a girl. We both liked Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon, and his mother's name is Eileen and my Mother's name is Crystal.

Erik for a boy. We can't agree on a middle name. I like Gavin.
  • Caroline, Rose, Erin, Louise
    Jonathan, Sebastian, Noel, Alexander

We don't want kids, at all, but we're writers and names are important, so those are our picks, in no particular order. Rose, Noel, and Alexander are family names. Caroline and Louise are names from songs by one of my all-time favourite singers, and Jonathan and Sebastian are just names we like. I also love Shirah, Georgia, and Honour, for girls, but FI thinks Shirah is too "exotic", Honour's too stuffy, and Georgia is "a great name for a state but not for a person", apparently.

  • We've got baby fever, but we're not trying till next jan. (Though FI jokes he's starting after the wedding)

For girls, we had it narrowed down to Aria or Adaline, but are worried with the Game of Thrones craze that Aria/Arya will become a bit too common, we also like the name Leona.

Boys we can't seem to agree on at all.

    Anniversary
  • Girls names I love: Adelaide, Abigail, Elizabeth, Anne, Susan, Farrah
Boys names I love: Francis, Sean, Declan, Nicholas, Robert, Johnathan, Anthony

I have always said I would re-use family names in some way, so a few of those are family names/ similar to family names.

  • We picked out names for our children before we were married and stuck with it for our son.

  • not planing on having kids.  But, if I ever had kids, I like the name Evelyn (not sure how I would spell it yet) and I would call her Evie.  I like the name James for a boy, though I would most likely adopt if I ever had kids and would probably prefer a girl.

  • I personally like odd or differently spelled names since mine is not common. We like Link Alexander for a boy and Tara Marie for a girl. Both middle names are family names. Tara is what FI would have been named if he was a girl ha ha
  • Fi had names already picked out when I met him at 17 years old.  Awww!  We are sticking with one of his picks and one of mine.  A girl would be Alyssa Quinn, a boy would be Jesse Michael.

If we get more than one of each, who knows.  We might go crazy.  Maybe we'll have T Rex, Apple, and Moonbeam.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • Nope! We haven't really talked about names. Although I'm anticipating quite the debate and struggle. My fiance is VERY indecisive. We also have cultural differences to get around. My aim is to find names that sound great in both. My fiance has also joked a number of times that because I got to name our dog, he gets to name our first child. I'm sure that will be brought up more than once while I'm pregnant. Oh... and I'm stubborn. Yep.

  • After FI and I saw Frozen in the theater, he begged me that if we ever have a daughter, could we name her Elsa.  (Yes we are Disney fans--he proposed at Disney World.)  I've always liked the name Autumn, so we compromised on Elsa Autumn.  I also really like Grace and Charlotte.

For boys, I like Liam.  FI wants to name our potential son after his best friend, Tyler.  (Blech--too common.)  We're also considering Robin in honor of my late father, but I worry about a son named Robin being teased too much.  Even my dad was teased a lot and that was in the '70s!

@sammyantha13 I never saw Frozen but that is an adorable name!! And you could easily get away with just Rob for a boy. Both my brother and I have shortened versions of names as our full first name!!

  • FI really wants a junior and I'm ok with that. FI's dad's side has a tradition where the first name passed down through the family but the middle name is the name of the grandfather from the mother's side. So if we carried on with that tradition, our son would have FI's first name and my dad's first name as his middle name. However, FI wants a true junior but he'll go by Jack because it's already confusing enough with FI and his dad sharing the same first name. As far as girl names go, we both really like Abigail and Rosalie. I really like the name Everly as well but I'm not sure how FI feels about it.
  • A girl would definitely be Jocelyn Marie (ties in with like 6 different family members), and I love Louisa Mae as a second choice for a girl (yes, Little Women is my favorite! and he has an aunt Louise and I had an aunt Mae) but I don't know if FI is on board with that. Heaven help us if we have boys because all of the boys' names I like got ruined by people I don't like. And I'd hate to have girls' names with so much meaning and family history and then just some random one for a boy. I'm not sure if FI wants a Jr... we already have 3 people in my family with his name.

  • We've talked about baby names since we started dating (and more seriously lately).

Boy names were easy. The first boy with be James Robert III and go by James (James is a family name for both of us). The second will be my two brothers' middle names, Scott Hamilton and go by Scott. These are both classic, simple, and family names.

Girl names are hard. I liked Lucy Belle, he hated it. I liked Catherine, he doesn't like it because that's his estranged aunt's name. We both recently decided we LOVE the name Lyla Belle/Mae.

Our kids will definitely go by their first name. No weird spellings or nicknames. FI goes by Jay instead of James and I go by middle name. It is just a pain to have to correct it.

  • Totally don't have baby fever, but I would like Isabel or Isabella for a girl. I liked Anthony for a boy, but my cousin just named her kid that (yea I know it's no big deal, but I don't love the name enough to HAVE to have it). FI wants to name a boy after him, but I'm not a fan of naming a kid after you.

  • @eg72 My brother and I actually don't have middle names so I might carry on that tradition and not have any for the kids. I just don't see the point unless I do like my father's name as the middle.

@pinkcow13 I also do not like juniors and seniors with the same name. Give the kid his own identity. I have Greek friends where it's very common to name the child after the paternal grandfather so my friend's family goes like 8 generations of Nicolas, Dimitri, Nicolas, Dimitri. lol

  • @jenna8984 That's pretty cool! I've met a few peoplewho don't have a middle name. They said it makes it  very simple when signing legal documents.

  • It took us forever to agree on DS's name....my favourite boys' name before was Hayden but FI hated that name. Finally we both agreed on (and loved) the name Parker, along with 2 middle names, the first of which being that of FI's twin who passed shortly after birth.

We both really want a girl eventually and when I was pregnant I thought the name Harlynne would make a wicked girls' name. We will probably stick with that, with Nicole or Christina as a middle name. Other boys' names we like are Troy, Ashton....Tristan and Nicholas but FI hates those last two lol he's so picky for someone with a generic single-syllable name :P

Yup and standardized tests at school growing up!! Plus it'll be easy/ cool to have my maiden name become my middle name once I get married. My mom's side of the family has done that for 3 generations.
