Stupid Tweet Article That Just Popped Up On My FB

Sunday's usually a quiet day for me on FB, but someone linked the article above on my news-feed.  And I was bored, so I clicked the link and read the article.  What kind of person thinks that's a good idea?  Well, obviously a teenager with nothing better to do.  This just confirmed my suspicions that nothing good comes of Twitter.

Yeah, twitter's never done anything good... like bring down oppressive governments, announce the death of Bin Laden, or break news on things such as the plane landing in the Hudson River. Nope, just a bunch of teenagers messing around.

Someone I know posted this on FB earlier today to point out how we have no freedoms in the US anymore. Uh yea, and this had been a serious threat where people were hurt/killed but the airline did nothing, the same person would have railed about the incompetence of government/law enforcement/big business.

People will ALWAYS bitch.  I have a few people on Facebook who are like that.  They need to be angry about something at all times.  I feel like if the world was perfect they'd all jump off a bridge because they wouldn't know what to do with themselves anymore.  Bitching is their life.

Yeah, people do stupid shit on Twitter. They also do stupid shit on Facebook, and Tumblr, and TK, and every other social network or forum. BUT there are also people who use these same sites for good, to promote causes and charities, to spread actual news, to make people smile.

You (that's a general you, not a specific you BTW) cannot blame Twitter for the stupidity of a bored and clearly over-priveleged teenage girl. Much like a gun cannot fire itself, Twitter cannot tweet on its own. The root of this problem is parents who aren't involved, children who can't think for themselves (hello, actions have consequences), and a society of over-stimulation - so not having something to do for two minutes translates to desperate boredom followed by desperate acts.

I love how she isn't going to tell her parents because she thinks her Twitter account being closed would be the end of her life. She thinks her parents won't find out if she gets charged with terroristic threats?!

In what world is that even funny, even when you're 14? 

While I'm not on Twitter often, I do turn to it for entertainment. I've had some good laughs over it resulting from Adele Dazeem, the HIMYM finale, and The Sound of Music Live with Carrie Underwood.

And sorry but things were broadcasted and told to the public way before Twitter was a sparkle in anyone's eye.  So the fact that Twitter is actually a good thing is bullshit.
