Least offensive baby shower games?

Re: Least offensive baby shower games?

  • Choose something where the guests have to do as little work as possible.  Baby Bingo is ok, but that's as much work as I'd want to do at a shower.  Someone else said the timer thing, which is great b/c the guests don't have to do anything.
I've made scratch off tickets for different showers, but you can order customized for pretty cheap. I ordered them before from a lady on Ebay before I figured out how to make my own.  People seem to like them, and it's minimal work for guests.
  • I guess I'm in the minority on this one: I love games at showers. However, I love silly games in general.

I like he Bingo idea. Also the timer idea.

  • Here's a doozy of a game.

Ultrasound photos: guess the baby body part.

For those of us without kids, that game was hard!!

I'm not much into games either, but we did the "guess which features Baby will have" (the winner was the closest to what the parents-to-be guessed for their child) and gift bingo goes over very well.

  • I have a question and it isn't meant to be snarky, just curious.  Why games?  Where did this tradition start that a bunch of grown women who are coming together to celebrate a wedding shower or a baby shower need to play games?  And ridiculous games at that?
I don't know, but apparently there will be FOUR games at my upcoming baby shower.  The four hosts each want to do their own.  It's going to be a looong day.

  • Thanks ladies! I love the timer and maybe a scratch ticket since it takes five seconds! and Maggie, it's the other host who really wants the games, so I'm trying to have some suggestions ready for they're not crazy games. I just went to a bridal shower that was four hours because of games so I am reallllly trying to avoid that.

Oh my.  And sadly you can't even drink to get through it :)  I am sure you will have fun, but four games is a lot.  Hopefully they are simple, short games!

I threw a baby shower once, and instead of games I bought a bunch of solid color onesies in varying sizes, some fabric paint, stencils, etc. and we all decorated the onesies. It was a big hit. Otherwise, as @emmyg65 suggested, there was yummy food and chatting. It was lovely.
@Blergbot - I love this!  I may have to steal it for the shower I'm throwing for my sister!
  • So, my friend did this for my shower. She bought a bunch of tiny plastic babies and froze them in ice cube trays. Whomever wanted to participate in the game took one "baby" ice cube each, and placed them in their drink. When your "baby" ice cube melted, you had to shout "my water broke". The first guest to do so wins a prize.

Even though its a little weird, I didn't find it the least bit offensive, and the guests had a lot of fun with it.
  • I threw a baby shower 2 years ago and also find shower games uncomfortable, so we went with "Baby Jeopardy", it was really fun and fairly challenging!

  • I had a baby shower for my sis and I had the tackiest and most awesome shower games.  I HATE traditional boring shower games.  We did bobbing for nipples (put floating nipples in a bucket) and georgie porgie pudding eating contest (One person s blindfolded and has to feed pudding to the other person with a bib on, and their hands behind their back).
We had a jack and jill shower.  The guys LOVED the games, and most of the girls didn't want to get messy, but they loved watching the men make fools out of themselves. Lol. We also had baby mad libs for the older women in the group, as well as ladderball and kan jam (it was a huge shower) for everyone else.

Baby Shower games are the reason all baby showers should have alcohol at them. I love the idea of the timer and I've enjoyed the bingo during gift opening.
