Wedding Colors

I'm not sure of the best place to post this question...but here goes.

What neutral color would you put with tangerine and hot pink? I really want to use tan as the neutral. The guys are going to wear pants, vests, and button downs with the sleeves rolled up, and I really wanted them to wear matching tan pants and vests. However, I haven't been able to find any vests so far. Only gray or maybe brown, which I don't really want to use. Would gray look weird with the 2 colors? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: Wedding Colors

  • When using a neutral like tan or grey or black, any color will go just fine with.  They are called 'neutral' for a reason.

  • Ditto PP. I do like the idea of tan with tangerine and pink a bit more than those colors with gray or brown.

I didn't even think about that. In my normal life, I don't do cream. I prefer white. But cream, tangerine, and hot pink might look good! What would you suggest for the guys then?
  • A cream suit with a tangerine vest would look nice. You could incorporate the hot pink with a pocket square.

  • I would do cream too. It would be very pretty, plus you could go heavier on the colors if you wanted, or make it more subtle.

I would choose one of the following: tan, cream, ivory, white, or light grey.

You could even do navy too, but depends if you want to "darken" the palate (vs. a light colour). The tangerine and pink would definitely pop off navy.
  • I think if you want to stay in the beige/tan family, cream may be easiest to find and will look very nice. Especially if you are trying to buy from a store rather than going to a tux shop. When I worked in a department store, we only had a certain number of each size in each suit we sold, but with about 4 weeks notice we could order the missing sizes to accommodate a large event. For spring/summer, we got in a very nice cream color, but all the tans we had were not solid, they had a sort of pattern to them... it's kind of hard to explain but they were on the darker side of the tan scale with a sort of a "burlap" look to them. If you live in/near DE, NJ, PA, or MD try Boscov's, that's where I used to work. If not, you could try Penney's or Macy's to see if they offer the same service in ordering vests for you. Hope this helps :)
  • My vote is for tan. Have you tried department stores?

  • Well, I just officially got engaged last Friday, and we have already purchased attire for 9 guys. (Whew!) Pants and matching vests. Navy with a very subtle white pinstripe. Also, doing button down shirts with the sleeves rolled up.
My colors will likely be a combination of tangerine, hot pink, and coral with some white and cream. Hoping it will all look good!
  • The guys will have boutonnieres that match the girls' dresses.

I hope you are having a very short engagement and the wedding is soon. Guys attire shouldn't be purchased more than a few months is advance.

I feel like when she said officially engaged she meant that she finally got a ring.  Because it isn't a true engagement until you have that bling **eye-roll**
