Thank you note- Wedding and shower gift recieved at the same time

We have started receiving gifts in the mail for our wedding on June 20th. I am also having a bridal shower next weekend. I know we need to start sending thank you notes for the guests who have sent gifts in advance but I have a question about a specific situation. My fiances Grandmother sent us both a gift for our wedding and a gift for my shower, which she is unable to attend, at the same time. Do I send her a thank you now, mentioning both gifts, or send her one now for the shower gift and one after the wedding for the wedding gift? or maybe I should send her one now for both gifts and another after the wedding thanking her again for her generosity and for coming tot he wedding? I don't want to mess this up and offend her.

I would send a note for the shower gift and a separate note for the wedding gift and send both of them now.

Whether you do one note or two, definitely send now. That way she knows you received her gifts.

I would send one note, with a separate paragraph about each gift. Think of the recipient: what would she expect/appreciate from you.

I think the one note with two separate paragraphs for each gift idea sounds good. She has a tendency to misplace her mail (either that or the mailman has a terrible time finding her mailbox) and if she recieved one card and lost the other I would be worried she would think we only received the one gift. Thanks for the advice!

I'd honestly send one (long) note, since it feels a less form letter. If that makes any sense. But definitely send it now!

I would think it really odd to get two separate thank you cards, unless she send you two cards along with the gifts?

You know, that's a good point.  I was thinking about differentiating the gifts, but I amend my opinion - one note for both gifts.

I would send one note and mention both gifts. At the end of the day, none of the gifts really are "shower" or "wedding" specific. They are all wedding gifts b/c you are getting them because you're getting married, no matter how or when you receive them.
