Frustrated!!!!

Today was supposed to be my day off. Well,  I just finished working. It is a really busy time in my area, but we were supposed to be done with this work by yesterday. Deadlines got delayed, things needed changing, so I worked from home today. I'm frustrated because I am fairly new in this position and my coworker who I am supposed to be working in conjunction with is not helpful at all. Training me consisted her of handing me things and telling me to do them. Anyways, I finally got everything done, but I think I may have to log in for a few on Monday. FI will be thrilled.

Additionally, FMIL is driving me insane. I appreciate her throwing us the e-party, but I can do without the 5 million texts and emails I get every day. I am not exaggerating. She sends texts and emails all day, every day. What do you think of this color? How about this combination? Here, let me show you a different angle of this picture. Mind you, I don't respond to them all, so she ends up calling FI. Or sends me a passive aggressive follow up. So while I was working I heard her speaking to FI on the phone, he had her on speaker. He told her that I did not want to put "Adults only" or any variation of that on the e-vites because it is against etiquette. So of course she says emphatically shrieks (I kid you not) "No it's not!! Everyone does it." "Well, Pinkcow researched this and it is against etiquette." "But everyone does it!!!!" "But it is against ettiquette." "Everyone does it!!!!" She then went on a rant saying that she is only paying for so many people, and when people bring their kids, she will not pay for them, and we can pay for them. Then, she made a comment about my parents. Now, I did not hear exactly what she said (I was working, and FI was in the living room), but I think something along the lines of "Well, if kids show up then her parents can pay for them." It sounded like a dig at them for not pitching in with the party. FI responded, but again I did not really hear that exchange (the first exchange was clear as day because she was pretty loud about it.)

So FINE. I'm through with the whole "No Kids" thing. Since the invitations will be going from her behalf, I guess they can be worded however she wants. I was trying to have nice, etiquette friendly invitations, but if she refuses or makes a huge stink about it, so be it. They will reflect on her, and it is not a hill to die on. I tried. Don't get me wrong, she is overall awesome, but she can be very stubborn about things, and very opinionated.

SIGH. I just needed to VENT. Now, I am going to rush and get ready for our dinner reservations. I need to unwind after this long, crappy day. I hope everyone else had a better day!

Re: Frustrated!!!!

  • Ugh. I'm so sorry she is being a pain in the ass.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Thanks @addiecake! I feel like weddings bring out a different side in people. I'm just going to be as patient as I can for now!

  • Ugh that is so frustrating.  I had many of the same issues with my FMIL: she (well, really both of Fi's parents but she was the hands-on one) threw our e-party and didn't seem to understand that it's tacky for the B&G to be involved.  She kept asking me about all these details and I would just say, "Whatever you want" and she, of course, would really want input.  I finally gave up and started planning the darn thing with her, which I know was not E-OK.

In retrospect, the party was fantastic but we didn't need it.  I just didn't have the backbone to tell FMIL, "Please don't get all excited and tell us you're throwing a party, but then just expect us to do all of the work."  The whole thing was an etiquette mess-up, hopefully the only one we'll have with the wedding.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • "Adults only" E-Party?

    These cookies come to mind

  • Haha that's what I think when I see adults only! Yea we totally don't need the e party but I know FMIL will be insulted if I decline one. Guess I just have to deal with it." Is it disturbing that those cookies look yummy to me?
