I'm not trying to be a jerk; I'm being serious. I really don't understand what the concern is with both of you having your hair styled half up/half down?
It wasn't just that it was half up and half down, it is exactly the same as how I want to wear my hair. Size and shape of the curls and the hairpiece. Obviously if she wanted it half up but a different general style I'd be crazy to say no- this is beyond that and it is why I was a little upset.

But it all doesn't matter because I didn't tell her to change her style.

  • I honestly can't imagine myself getting upset over something like that. Like PPs said, it's a very common hair style. And I can guarantee you that no one is going to be looking at her hair.

Wait, she is going to wear a hairpiece?  That to me is odd if she is, but again, not really a huge issue.

Also, like others said, just because she picked the same picture does not mean her hair and your hair will look exactly the same.  I am guessing you have different lengths.  Hair texture and thickness really play a factor and of course the fact that you have different color hair is a big difference.

But also like the others have said, a half up, half down curled do is really really common and there are only so many ways that you can do it.

Curls only come in one shape- a curl! ;-)

Usually stylists use a 1.75inch, 1.5inch, or 1inch curling iron to curl hair, so the size of the curls is going to be the same for most people.

Is she using the exact same hairpiece as you?  I always put something in my hair if it is up or half up/half down, whether I am a BM or a guest, but I have never worn anything that remotely looks bridal.

Plus, you are going to be wearing a veil right?

Half up half down with curls is an EXTREMELY popular way to do your hair for any formal occasion. My MOH did half up half down with curls, as did I. Ya know what made me stand out? My veil. Oh, and I was the freaking bride. How many people paid attention to my MOH's hair? Two. They were her parents. Stressing over this is ridiculous.

    *** stuck in box

Maybe she is using a hairpiece, but is it possible she sent you a picture of what she wants, that happens to have a certain hair piece, but her's is going to be something different.

I guess what I'm saying is most woman comply a photo or 2 of what they want, but the final product looks slightly different based on hair texture, color, length and what hairpiece they choose to bring.      I would not really read too much into this.

Plus if you are getting your hair done by the same person and/or same location I doubt the stylist(s) would really let 2 women walk about with the EXACT same hair style.  Especially if one is the bride.   Besides the fact stylist needs to modify styles based on texture and length, they are normally pretty creative people and like to do add different touches bases on personalities.

IDK,  I've been a BM in weddings were we all had similar styles, but they looked very different on all of us because of color, length, texture and the fact the stylist put different touches based on personalities.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I'm also curious is she's wearing a hairpiece.
  • It's not like she's wearing a white bridal gown. I'd let this go.

You'll never be subject to a cash bar, gap, potluck wedding, or b-list if you marry a Muppet Overlord.

Why not?  Hairpiece =/= a white bridal hairpiece with flowers and crystals and feathers, etc.  It could be a simple comb, a barrette, a clip, etc.  We don't know.

Why wouldn't you wear something in your hair if you are having it done up?  Just because you are a BM you can't wear any hair accessories?  That's just silly!

  • Here are some pictures of the bride and her BMs all with similar or same hairstyles.  Pretty sure the bride is still noticeable in all of them.  Oh and don't forget that the Duchess of Cambridge and her sister both had the same hairstyle at the big royal wedding and no one got them confused.
