Plus One Question...

I know this topic has been rehashed a million times but I just need advice how to word a response. My FI's cousin sent me an FB message asking if she was going to be able to bring someone to the wedding. Our wedding isn't until August invites have not gone out yet. We did send save the dates back in January (side note she is 25 and lives at home so we just addressed save the date to whole family she would be getting her own invite though). We haven't seen here since Christmas, FI isn't particuarly close to her they were when they were younger but not so much now. At Christmas she wasn't dating anyone so my question is how do I respond. We weren't planning on giving her a plus one unless she was dating someone at the time so how do I respond. I feel weird saying something along the lines of yes if you are seeing someone no if you are not. Who would you respond?

Re: Plus One Question...

  • Hmmm. I guess be direct?
"Cousin, we're excited that you're thinking about coming! Every guest will definitely be able to bring his/her spouse, fiance or significant other, however we weren't planning on extending plus-ones if our guest isn't seeing anyone. We'll be sending invites out around xyz date. If you're with someone you'd like us to invite at that time, we'll be happy to! Otherwise there will be lots of family members and friends at the wedding. We hope to see you!"

    Or something? I don't know...
  • @aurianna that sounds good to me! This is the first plus o e question I've gotten so I just wasn't sure how to navigate the waters I guess
