Had tasting last night

My FI is such a weirdo when it comes to food. I was getting seconds of all the expensive stuff like prime rib and salmon, and he's over here eating the appetizer tomato & mozzarella as his dinner. LOL. I'm a total cow/ pig/ meat lover so it blows my mind that he doesn't like beef. The kid carving the prime rib cut off a big piece of fat to discard to the side and I was like "um, I totally want that!" so he laughed and gave it to me. (I know- terrible for my cholesterol but it's my favorite!)

Then when I texted my best friend/ bridesmaid that it was really yummy she said "Can we get a plate of bacon wrapped scallops just for us in the bridal suite?!"  And I was like Oh my God, that isn't even one of the options and I didn't even notice! She was joking like "Wow it must have been good if you forgot about bacon!" hahahahh so true :)

Re: Had tasting last night

  • Yummmmmmm! I'm in a similar boat - I could eat prime rib every day but FI hates it because it's "too fatty." He's baked chicken, all the way. He DID insist upon the bacon-wrapped scallops for a passed hors d'oeuvre though. :)

Our tasting is a week from Sunday!

  • Feed me all of it, please.

We haven't scheduled a tasting yet, but tomorrow is my cheat day and I'm daydreaming about all the stuff I'm going to eat.

@lolo883 When I make chicken at home, FI gives me his skin and when I make rib eyes on the grill he gives me his fat. My brother and I did his when we were little so my mom always called us Jack Sprat (the nursery rhyme).

  • My tummy grumbled reading this. The fattier the meat the better. I love all meat :)

  • FI is the same way. He doesn't like fatty meat and hates anything that's off a bone. I made a whole chicken last night and I get the legs/wings/skin all to myself. HA!

  • I'm the same, but unfortunately am prone to bloating after having a heavy meal with lots of red meat and carbs etc, which I defo want to avoid on the big day!
We're having a turkish style buffet, with a few different meats including grilled fish and chicken, and lots of healthy salads. I don't want to be bursting out of my dress!
  • Me and Fi are totally meat gorgers. But I have a bad habit of filing up on veg/carb!
  • That all sounds SO delicious. I am in the same boat with the meat/fat/skin. Mmmm...

  • I love tomato mozzarella salads. I'm not a big meat eater so prime rib doesn't sound that great to me.

When I was a kid, I would ask for the corned beef fat off everyone's plate. My family thought I was disgusting.

  • YUM I love mozzarella and prime rib.

We have a following up tasting on Monday to pick different appetizers for the cocktail hour and I'm looking forward to eating all the potato cakes, pork sliders and bruschetta.

  • Reading about eating fat kinda just made me want to throw up lol.  But, I don't eat dead animal carcass- to me, that's being a weirdo that people consider that food :)  I'd be sitting with your FI eating caprese, yum!

  • Ugh I hate hate hate fatty meat and skin!

FI eats the skin and fat - one time I was shredding chicken breasts for burritos, and had discarded the "scary stuff" - the brown veins/suspicious-looking stuff, etc.  He strolls by and asks what that pile is, and I told him it's the yucky stuff.  He scoops it up, pops it into his mouth, and strolls out.

He is not allowed to shred any meat for dinners.  :D

  • I'm also in the camp of people who don't like fat or skin or meat on bones. Yuuuuuck.

But I'm glad your tasting went well!!
