  • So, what was the point of this post? To ridicule your husband? Your OP is a tad condescending. Most recipes use confectioners sugar or powdered sugar terminology, not 10x sugar. It's not common knowledge.
Seriously? I took it as "look at this adorable thing my husband did." Not ridiculing him at all. It's like loving when kids mispronounce words. Not calling them dumb, they just don't know better. Clearly he had no reason to know better, so it's a sweet mistake.
    Sweet literally!

People need to stop having such major conniptions on this site. This was just a cute story about sugar, I mean damn.

    I can't believe he didn't know that!

Except I can, because I did not know that either.

You must be one of HGF's followers.
WTH does that even mean?! I just don't take life quite so seriously to be offended by something like this. You should try it sometime.

Wow. I didn't realize people couldn't take a joke? This went from, "Look my H did. Bless his heart" to "HGF is such a rude person because she thought her H did something dumb." BFD.

    Grow up, people.

I can think that this post by HGF was perhaps unwise and catty, definitely bordering on rude, without thinking that HGF is a rude person all the time.

I guess I just don't take posts on the internet so serious and this one didn't rub me the wrong way in the least.

  • I had no idea that 10x sugar is powdered sugar. . . aka confectioner's sugar.

"Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space."

  • Isn't "bless your heart" a nice way of saying "gosh you are acting like an idiot!"

But I knew that 10X sugar was the same as powdered sugar and was the same as confectioners sugar.  But only because I love baking and I love the food network.

  • It took me a very long time to figure out confectioners sugar and powdered sugar were the same thing and I still often forget. Never heard of 10x (I would have figured the same as your DH, but also would have wanted to know compared to what? Was it previously made with less sugar? I would have had a lot of questions).

I also don't bake/cook very much. I can make chocolate chip cookies. Which call for granulated sugar.
  • It does sound condescending to me too. I read it and thought "I must be living under a rock for never having heard this term before".

And then I thought, "This poor guy learned something new and his wife posted about it on an international message board and updated him on the feedback, that's got to feel good".
