Far Northern WI brides? Hurley, Mercer, etc.?

Hiya.  Just trying to figure out if anyone else is planning a wedding in those areas.  I'm from the area, but planning from Dallas.  Not easy to do much research online up in Vilas/Iron counties.

Curious about awesome bakeries up in the area and such.  Where you're all getting your wedding cakes, etc.  Thanks, looking forward to connecting with some Northwoods brides

I live in Eagle River (technically Sugar Camp, close enough).  I would be more than glad to help you out with planning whatever you need! I am a little wedding obsessed, and mine is in 3 weeks- pretty sad it's almost over.

My favorite Bakery closed this summer, but Trigs (grocery store) has pretty awesome cakes!  My FSIL is also a caterer/baker, and she is doing our wedding cake.  She does a great job if you would like her phone number.

My FI brother is a DJ, incase you need one...I know there aren't many up here! 
Where are you planning your wedding?  Do you have a date/venue?

Hi Katie, thanks for the response!  Congrats and how exciting, your wedding is almost here!

We'll be doing a dessert reception and most likely holding it at a community center...Iron Belt or Kimball.    Seeing as we are in need of a baker/caterer I would love your FSIL's info.  We would like to have a smaller wedding cake, only 40-50 people, and then an assortment of desserts, cheeses, wine, etc.  Nice classy layout.  We're big into travel, so we'll probably be doing a bit of a travel theme.

We're probably going to cut out DJ costs considering our small size.  We're going to have my brothers friend iPod DJ.  Which I've done very successfully at cocktail parties about this size, lol.  This is my 2nd wedding, his first, so the overall tone will be a bit more understated.   It'll be on a Friday night around 8pm and it'll be cold... March 16, 2012.  We're both back in school finishing up our degrees so we have to work with time off from school, so spring break it is!

I am from that area. We looked into Ashland Baking Company, their cakes are fantastic, but the price was a bit more than we really wanted to spend. Other places I can think of are Randall Bakery in Wakefield and La Panetteria in Bessemer.

We're heading up in a few weeks to check out halls, community centers in the area. Very exciting! I'd like to stay as local as possible so we'll be checking out Randall Bakery for sure.  I know they have good stuff there.  I'm afraid to venture too far out as we'll be getting married in March and well, we all know we could be battling weather and such too, so I'd hate to end up in a bind if our vendors are too far away.

One that I have to plug is Jerry Wuorinen from Floral Gardens near Indianhead. He did our flowers and they were absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced.
