To Video or Not to Video?

I am meeting via the web with the photog/video person tonight

i am still on the fence about video

is it worth the money? 

yall know i am *clears throat* cheap lol 

but i only want to do this once and i want to not be cheap if its worth the investment

so what do yall ladies thing? Video yes?

I HONESTLY THINK IT IS WORTH THE MONEY IF ITS WITHIN BUDGET.... ME PERSONALLY I CANT AFFORD IT SOOOO ILL HAVE TO GET SOMEONE WITH THE IPAD AND TELL THEM TO RECORD IT... BUT FOR MY FIRST WEDDING I DID HAVE THE VIDEO AND WHAT NOT (IT GOT BROKEN AND DESTROYED IN THE SEPARATION PROCESS HOWEVER,.....) IT WAS WORTH THE MONEY TO BE ABLE TO GO BACK AND LOOK AT IT..

the photo my planner found prices are reasonable for the video and photo.... i would just rather at the lower end of their pricing lol 

yes i am cheap... i have heard folks say they regret not having the video i have yet to hear any one say the regret having the video

Other than asking a family member or friend to video the ceremony, has anyone located a videographer who is "cheap" but will do a good job in Greensboro, NC?

Depends. whats your photographer situation looking like. because i got my cousin to do photography, we "splurged" on video. To be honest, i'm glad i have the video but would have rather put that money towards really nice photo's (because ours kind of suck). When we got the video i probly watched it about 5 times for 2-3 weeks. Now i watch it once every 2-3 months. If I could do it all over again, i would almost look for a service that can "edit" video. have someone take video of you and hubby while getting dressed, taking pics, vows, reception, details of wedding, etc... and see if you can find someone to cut, fade, and put music to it. or look for videography students. I definitely WOULD NOT cheap out on actual photography though to squeeze in video.

yeah I echo everybody else vee.  I think it's a good idea within budget and personally, this is me as me, not as anybody else, if it weren't in budget i'd give up one of the other traditional weddingy things to have video, if it meant no flowers and no favors {shrugs} okay, because i won't remember that in 20 years but I'll always be able to look at the dvd.

eta:  vee I just clicked.  girl I might be biased because of the market I live in but the prices aren't pretty good, they're awesome.   $3 grand for video and photography?  I'm moving.

i say if you can have the video.. even after i find myself still watching the video.. plus things that i didnt even see its cool to go back and see 

i think it was worth the money... can you look into maybe film students that are about to graduate

the package i found was really reasonable and they are willing to work with our budget.... 

so we are going to do the video thanks for everyone's input

After reading everyone's posts, I have more assurance that I need to also get the videographer, even during this planning process, I enjoy watching real wedding videos that are not photo slideshows set to music.

A lot of brides told me they regret not having a videographer so that is why I will have one, but I wasn't planning on hiring one initially.

We have decided to invest in Videography. With a destination wedding our parents will not be able to attend, one because of illness and the other because of the fear of flying. So we are going to try to capture as much as possible on that day.

We will have a videographer.  Just need to figure out who. LOL  Videography is a must for me.  I want all the memories I can get and I really want to see my day in motion.
