Wedding Officiant

We are having a family friend serve as the wedding officiant. However, we've recently become friends with another person who is an ordained minister. Would it be weird to have our officiant do the ceremony, but ask the minister to say a prayer or a reading?

    I think it would be fine if you asked the ordained minister to do a short prayer at the beginning of your ceremony.  I wouldn't have him do too much more because your friend who will be officiating may feel like he is being stepped on.
