Did you get lingerie (or embarrassing gifts) at your bridal shower?

My shower is tomorrow.  It's just a "regular" bridal shower, not a lingerie shower.  It will be about 70% older ladies and then the rest my friends.  My sister told me today that she had to talk my mom out of getting me lingerie as a shower gift.  Thank God for my sis.  I would have been super embarrassed opening that in front of FMIL and FI's aunts and grandma!  

Did anyone get unwanted lingerie etc. at their shower?

I haven't had my shower yet, but now I am worried that I will get something embarrassing!

My FMIL gave FI and I furry handcuffs and "Love" Lottery Tickets that tell you when and where to do stuff for Valentines Day this year.

Based on that, I am thinking it is inevitable that I will get something embarrassing at the shower. Crap.

I haven't had a shower yet, but during my shower at my first wedding I got lingerie (cheap tacky stuff) from his family. It was across the country from where I grew up so I had ZERO family or friends in attendance. It was all his family. AWKWARD.

I got some, but it wasn't all that bad. One aunt and two cousins gave me lingerie.

The funniest thing happened at my bridal shower. My godmother/aunt who couldn't make it to the shower had left a gift for us to open. My FI was there opening gifts with me, and I had this wine/champagne box and when I opened it, I saw the top of a champagne bottle sticking up. I said to FI, "Oh! Aunt knows us so well!"... right before I pull out the small bottle of champagne, releasing a bunch of little lingerie pieces all over the floor. I was so surprised!! We all had a good laugh about it, not really embarrassing, just more totally caught off guard.

I went to a bridal shower for a family friend.  Her mom hired a male stripper.  At the bridal shower.  Which was mostly older ladies and like one tiny table of her friends.  O.o

We haven't had our shower yet, but I gotta say, I'm a hard girl to embarrass. Most of the people who will be in attendance have seen me in my chonies or less at one point or another, so while getting the sexy lingerie from mom might be a little odd, I probably wouldn't be embarrassed. FI might be more easily embarrassed then me. She used to be at least...I might have cured her of that. 

For my 25 birthday some of my friends chipped in to buy me a present. A sex swing. So I could "swing into my late 20s" as the card read. FI looks at it turns to me and goes "Babe, it's the one you really liked in the store!" my father laughed so hard he turned red and couldn't breath. My step mom (mom's wife) said  "Let us know how it works out for you guys!" so I feel like at this point my friends get that embarrassing us is really a fruitless effort.

I try to beat up kick ass women on a regular basis, frequently wearing booty shorts and a bra and they wear the same. Go right ahead. I'm not easily embarrassed.

Several things. In public is roller derby. I'm also a judoka and do some MMA, but not as visible in public. I'm a scrappy little bulldog.

I got lingerie from my SIL and stepmothers mom. Most just laughed it off.

I'm worried about my mom. She's a damned prude most of the time but got my sis and BIL a GIANT pump bottle of lube for a wedding present and tried (unsuccessfully) to talk us into having a "personal shower" for bro's FI.

Ew ew ew. I don't ever want to be thinking of my mom when sexytime rolls around.

Did you know she was BSC at the time you accepted the shower or was this your first inkling?

At my sister's shower, my mom's cousin gave her some lingerie from Victoria's Secret and then told her that she should wear it anytime she gets into an argument with my husband and walk around the house in it and "pretend to pick up stuff."  She then basically demonstrated the "bend and snap" (Legally Blonde, anyone?).  It was a little awkward but more funny and now we love to joke about it.

(in case you haven't heard of the "bend and snap" lol)

I hope nobody buys me lingerie.  I would actually LOVE to have some nicer bras and stuff, and wouldn't be embarrassed to open it, but finding my size is friggin obnoxious.  Stores like VS don't tend to carry under a 32 band size or over a DD, so I always end up with something that either falls off or gives me that extremely unflattering quad boob.  I would hate for people to waste their money on stuff that won't fit.

When I accepted the offer in March I was not aware of her crazy. By July when the shower happened, I had a lot of indications.

@HaileyDancingbear VS has 32DDD!  I'm kind of a hard to find bra size too, although at least VS generally has my size (34 DD/DDD depending).  Usually in store though they only have boring colors.  I will fall in love with some sexy lingerie bra and then they don't have the DD, so I end up having to order online a lot.  Could be worse.

I need a 30 band. Or if a Polish line, a 70. 65 doesn't quite fit.

DDD is 6 steps up. I need 11-12 up. VS doesn't stock that at all.

Hailey, have you tried Tutti Rouge yet? They run snug in smaller bands so I can wear a 32. Some of their SS14 bras are £26 so not too expensive.

I don't think anyone will buy me lingerie for my shower (I secretly have quite enough of it as it is anyway) but FI will be present and I want all lingerie to be a surprise for the honeymoon.

I haven't had my shower yet but now I'm worried there will be lingerie there.  I really hope not I would die of embarrassment opening that up in front of family!!

I will have to look that up, I am between a 28 and a 30 band depending on the bra so it's hard to find that AND large cup sizes!

I think I'd be more annoyed than embarrassed. Lingerie is a wasted gift for me, and as much as I enjoy people buying me things for their own amusement, I'd rather them save their money.

Also, no showers here!

I didn't really have a shower, but we had a girl's night kind of thing (some people brought presents since I didn't have a shower), and H had to talk his sister out of bringing a wind-up penis toy to put on the table (I'm guessing it was like a little penis with legs, lol).

Stepmom did give me lingerie the night before our wedding.  She had me open it in front of my dad and H.  Fortunately, it wasn't super sexy, (more of a classy lace nightgown), but still a little awkward.

No one brought anything to my shower, but I know my FSIL has ordered me "fun things" after asking my sizes. But I doubt she would give them to me in front of everyone!

No one has given lingerie at any of the showers I've been to but, in our group the tradition is to create a lingerie streamer for the bride-to-be that we give them at their bachelorette party. That way we're not possibly horrifying grandma's and aunt's!

Hahaha.  The shower I went to today used the lingerie as decorations!  Bride's FSIL organized all the BMs buying lingerie so there were like 20 pieces, and they strung clotheslines across the windows and covered them with the lingerie!  Nobody is shy so I actually thought it was sort of cute.  Fi got super embarrassed when he walked in to say hi before the shower though.
