Florida wedding destination!

Hi! I'm looking for an affordable, yet classy wedding venue in south Florida! I am from Minnesota and want to escape the cold for a semi destination wedding without having to leave the country. We'd be hoping to have around 100 people and love the idea of being near or on the water. Please let me know if you have any ideas!!! Suggestions welcomed as we'd like to get the planning rolling. Thanks!

I looked in south Florida but didn't find anything I liked. It was VERY important to me that we have a private event- ie I didn't want a massive hotel with tons of other guests who would be gwaking. What I found was a great hotel in Destin Florida (not South, but still on the beach). Have you thought about that at all? http://www.hendersonparkinn.com/ has a private beach that looks great.
    Thoughts?
  • i'll definitely take a look! thank you!!

My girlfriend was married last October in Key Largo at the Marriot Key Largo Bay Resort. Although it is a larger resort her wedding still felt very private. The actual ceremony was far enough down the beach that there were no on lookers and the dinner and reception were in a private location as well. We flew into Miami and drove from there and it was not a bad drive at all. You also get the feeling of the keys without paying the price you would in Key West, however if you do have guests that want to drive down to Key West that is an option also.

They had a great pool we swam in every day, a beach volleyball set up and a shuffle board area! Yes we are all in our 20's and 30's but love shuffle board! :) Another nice point was that we did not have to spend a ton of money on alcohol. Not sure if your group likes to drink but we do! The hotel did not prevent us from bringing our own drinks/beer down to the pool area. We obviously didnt flaunt it and kept it a little under wraps but they definitely knew we were drinking and didn't make us leave with our alcohol. That saves you from spending a lot of money drinking during the day time!

    Good luck!
