Mountain venue for elopement

We are in the very early planning stages of our wedding.  We live in TX but want to elope with just the three of us (FI, daughter, and me).  FI wants to elope to the mountains.  The plan is to get married and then have a reception back home at a later time.  Can anyone recommend a beautiful outdoor venue for a ceremony only?  We are planning March of next year and don't mind driving as we will likely be renting a car after flying in to Denver.  Thanks!

Re: Mountain venue for elopement

  • We plan on doing this exact same thing. Only it will be our us and our son next April. Would love to know anything you come up with.
  • We are getting married at Mount Princeton Hot Springs. They have a couple of beautiful outdoor venues! It is a great place for a romantic getaway as well, they have a great restaurant, nice hotel rooms and a ton of different hot spring pool (some adult only). It is about 2.5 hours out of Denver in Buena Vista but so worth the drive. The onsite coordinators name is Zelma and she is amazing!

The Estes Park Lodge also has a great outdoor venue overlooking Lake Estes and the mountains. It was our second choice.
  • My fiancé and I are planning a mountain top ceremony and have considered beaver creek as well as vail. Both beautiful.
  • We're going to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO.

There is no charge to be married there, but it IS on a first come, first served basis. So it's definitely not for a Type A person who wants control over things like the time you are going to say your "I do's" and if you have to wait awhile to do so... <3 But it is lovely and they have 6 spots designated just for weddings. :)
