It's Monday.

^^That's pretty much how I feel today.

This weekend was relaxing and also super productive. We Got Mother's Day and birthday gifts for FMIL, birthday gift for FFIL, and a birthday gift for my dad (which I almost forgot because I'm a terrible daughter) all at a really good price. Lemme tell ya, this girl loves a good deal. We also dyed my sofa from dingey white to navy blue and I absolutely love the color, it really pulls the whole living room together. Last night I had going away dinner with a friend who's graduating and moving out west. I'm kind of bummed that the weekend is over now.

How are you ladies on this Monday morning? What were the highlights of your weekend?

Re: It's Monday.

  • I mostly enjoyed my weekend.  Friday I had an 8:45 AM doctor's appointment and they got me set up on all kinds of new medications.  I went home and slept until H got off work.  I was feeling a little less dizzy, so we went out to get something to eat at an Asian bistro and then did some grocery shopping.  the rest of the evening was spent on the couch.  we watched Saving Mr. Banks and I really enjoyed it.  H watched wrestling after that and I slept.

oh!  we also dogsat for my parents while they were out of town.  their dog is only 2, and she is just SO FULL OF ENERGY.

Saturday we had to get up early and take our two pups to the vet for a heartworm test.  apparently the heartworm meds they were on (Iverhart Plus) had a recall, so our vet called and wanted to test them ASAP.  everything was just fine.  we went back home and slept some more, and then I FINALLY got to plant all my summer seedlings.  we planted 10-15 tomato plants, 4 sweet bell peppers, 2 jalapenos (one giant, one normal), a habanero plant, a Jamaican scotch bonnet pepper plant, 4 okras, an eggplant, and lots of basil.  I also planted some pole-growing green beans in a couple big pots and placed them near our wedding arch that is in the backyard.  I'm hoping that I can train the vines to climb up the arch.

Saturday night, we had DUCK NIGHT.  I roasted a whole duck (my first time!) and it was wonderful.  we also had ciabatta with baked brie and homemade orange-cranberry sauce, fresh green beans with a little toasted breadcrumbs, mashed potatoes, and my friend brought some chocolate-mocha cupcakes.  it was DELICIOUS.

not much happened on Sunday.  we went to church, had a good lunch, and I took a nap.  my parents came back in town last night so we got to drop off their dog.
  • @TwoDimes Yay! Where are you going on vacation?

@CocoBellaF duck night sounds amazing. Also I'm jealous of your garden!

  • I'm tired and just plain crabby. Oh well.

Friday night I had to be at the theater to run concession, the show was Rent it was ok, not my type of show.  Saturday we had a friend's son's 1st birthday party.  It was cute the weather was nice so the park was fun.  I got to see a lot of my friends and their babies, it was all so cute.  Good friends of our asked FI & I to be godparents of their daughter!  We are so honored and excited.  After the party we scouted out the park for pictures for the wedding since it's right near our church.  Then we went out to dinner.

Sunday we had church then met with our priest to finalized details of the ceremony and the mass.  We also went & picked up my wedding band, and we went to pick up FI's wedding band.  Not only was it in incorrect band it was the wrong size.  Luckily we still have some time before we need it, they are going to look into it today.

The biggest bummer about the weekend was that I found out my surprise shower is this coming Saturday.  I'm pretty upset that I found out about it.

  • I came into work an hour early this morning so I'm a little dead-to-the-world today.

This weekend wasn't too bad. On Friday night, FI was gone most of the night playing a show with his band, so I went to the mall and bought a white headband so I could make my headband/veil piece for the wedding. It came out PERFECT.

On Saturday FI and I got to sleep in which was really nice. I cleaned the apartment and then my dad came into town and took FI and I out to eat.

On Sunday FI and I had a 'day date'. We went out to lunch and then to the theater to see the new Spiderman movie.  I'm not a Spiderman fan but it wasn't too bad. That evening we went to FI's parent's house for dinner.

This weekend was great! Friday night H and I went to CrossFit and brought the pup we were babysitting with us. He got so much attention and he loved it! Afterwards we came home and watched Rock of Ages which I have never seen before. I thought it was a little cheesy but I loved the music!

Saturday I did Insanity that morning and the puppy was picked up by his parentals. Afterwards we went to a cookout and played frisbee. That night we met up with some of H's friends from college and went to dinner and the Braves game. They lost but we had a great time hanging out with them. We hadn't seen them in almost two years.

We got home pretty late so Sunday we were both really tired. I made H waffles that morning and then we went to church. Afterwards we did the pre move-in inspection and noticed some stains on the carpet but it's nothing that can't be picked up with a steam cleaner. Everything else looked great though and the lawn maintenance service came and cleaned up the yard. That night we watched GOT and did some packing.

ETA: T and P for H today. He had a phone interview last Thursday that went well and is going in for a face to face interview later this afternoon. It sounds like a great company and H knows a lot about their product but we have a few questions that could make or break this decision so hopefully they come out to what we are looking for!

@lalalaurita that gif is making my day!!! Mondays suck. Did you have sofa covers that you dyed? I'm curious about how you did this. I have a light beige sofa I'd like to do ANYTHING with before I get rid of it.

@twodimes, a weekend of doing nothing is FUN. Are you going anywhere on vacation?

This weekend was fun for me. Friday night we just hung out at home, nothing crazy.

Saturday, one of my BMs came over and we went up to the bridal salon to pick up my dress, see the picture below (my elbow is so ashy!). The dress is gorgeous and SO SPARKLY and about 3 sizes too big, like where the detailing on the top is, it's supposed to be altered so that the sequins go all the way across (if that makes sense). So now my dress is sitting in my guest bedroom on the bed, waiting until September to be worn again. I have to just finish my veil and order a sash and I'm done with wedding dress stuff (YAY).

After I got back from Alfred Angelo, I cleaned my whole kitchen top to bottom, a good spring cleaning. Then I decided to take Quigley to the dog park for the first time. I'm always afraid how he's going to react to other dogs so I figured we would do baby steps. I would bring him in the small dog area first on a leash, then let him walk around on his own the next time, then out in the big dog park area, etc. Well, he went CRAZY when he saw other dogs, so some people brought their dogs in to play with Quigley, he loved it. We were there for a couple of hours and came home to relax.

Sunday we woke up, ate breakfast, and took Quigley to the dog park again. This time, FI thought Quigley was ready to go to the bigger area of the dog park. Quigley loved it! The regulars there were so nice and welcoming, we were there two hours drinking coffee and talking to the regulars at the dog park. Quigley made friends with some Beagles, Golden Retrievers and Boston Terriers. We decided we will make this an every weekend trip. Quigley was pooped when we got home. He loved the dog park and it was nice to meet new people.

Sunday afternoon FI and I spring cleaned the living room and bathroom, so now we just have to work on the office which we'll do this weekend. That night, FI made dinner, and I did some knitting. I've been working on a baby blanket and I'm on my last skein of yarn, so it's almost done!!!!

I'm ready for next weekend already.

Saturday I began my diet again. I've been a total slacker since FIL passed away and I'm really out of shape. My diet begins with a 3-day cleanse that's always a real energy drainer. I thought since it was only day one I'd be OK to go on a hike with H and the pups. Boy was I wrong! We went up to the mountains on a trail we hadn't been before. H didn't check the trail map before we got started and neither of us remembered to grab a water bottle out of the car. Turns out the trail was 3 miles and had a 2,000' change in elevation. I got super dizzy and dehydrated. Everything was fine and we made it back, but poor H saw me at my worst for sure. I was balling like a 5 year old by the end. Never been so thirsty in my life!

Yesterday I treated myself to a manicure. Then did some weekly laundry/cleaning. H was gone all day with some guy friends, so I pretty much watched 6 episodes in a row of Breaking Bad. I'd been waiting FOREVER for the final episodes to hit netflix and finally noticed them yesterday.

  • @buddysmom80 your dress is gorgeous and so are you!

    Anniversary

  • @southernpeach89, vibes for your H!

    @buddysmom80, gorgeous dress!

I packed. And cleaned. Boring weekend, but I'm down to the linen closet, the utility room, the front hall closet (really not looking forward to that one), and the kitchen. Primarily. There's a little work left to do in the bedroom but it's not at crisis point right now.

Oh, and I watched the original Star Wars trilogy for May the 4th.
  • @severmilli12 pictures please?!?!

@buddysmom80 yes, it's an ikea sofa so all the covers come off and are machine washable. Basically we filled the bathtub with hot water and 10 boxes of rit dye and put the covers in. PM me if you'd like to know the details.

Also YAY for your dress! I love it! Is that the same necklace from your e-pics? Because it's really cute.

@lalalaurita its not the best picture but its the only one I have right now since I'm at work. I don't want to wear a traditional veil or anything over my face, so I was hoping that adding some netting would make it look more bridal. I bought a white headband and added the lace, flower, and netting.   This photo was taken before I permanently attached the flower and netting, so the flower doesn't sit as high off the headband and the netting isn't as poofy.

  • @KeptInStitches, I wish I had been watching Star Wars with you! I haven't seen those movies in ages and have been wanting to re-watch them.

@southernpeach89, I'm sending up prayers that your H's interview goes well! Also, I loved Rock of Ages, it was ridiculous and fun.

Friday I had a doctor's appointment in the morning and did some studying afterward. My mom and her two sisters had gone on a little trip to Gettysburg last week and they got back on Friday afternoon, so I spent some time with them. We all went out to dinner and then attempted and failed to find a movie on Netflix we could all agree on.

Saturday and Sunday I just worked a lot. :( I know, I know, work is a necessary part of life, but I'm starting to get really drained and exhausted and I'm just ready to be done with school, get a normal full-time job, and get back to my life.

  • @lalalaurita- we have the ikea sectional in white too.  It's only a year old so it's still looking pretty good and we love it, but, I have yet to wash the covers... I am scared!!  So far I have just lint rolled it and spot cleaned it.  Do you have any tips??  I just can't imagine the main cover even fitting in the washing machine, and then you have to air dry it?  Where?? lol

  • Ugh this weekend was full of ups and downs. The ups: the ring came in and is on my finger and it's so pretty. Downside: my dad is in the hospital and although he's doing better today, they haven't figured out what's up yet.

Conclusion: I need horse time and wine.

  • @lalalaurita what a project!!! I think we're going to just tough it out with our couch until we get a sectional. Yes, that's the same necklace from our e-pics. I'm obsessed with it, I wear it all the time, it seriously goes with everything. I wore khaki shorts and a blue top with it on Saturday and it worked. If it was silver I would 100% wear it with my wedding dress.

  • @CLoGreenEyes, maybe call it a pet peeve, but FI's best friend's mom was all "Well I hope he will be ok in time for the big day to walk you down the aisle" and I just kept waterfall crying. Good thing I have a chocolate stash in my desk...

@carliealissa back when my sofa was still white I would just throw the covers in the washer and bleach the heck out of them. I had to split it into to loads of laundry, sofa cover in one load and cushion covers in the other. Put them in the dryer for a little bit, then take them out and put back on the sofa while they're still damp so that they don't wrinkle. Hope that helps!

@LaPeanut1018 You are so pretty. Stahp it.

ETA @Blackbird230 sending lots of prayers and good vibes to you and your dad! And I love your ring and your picture!

  • @blackbird230, wow, that's not insensitive at ALL. What kind of thing is that to say to someone??? I'm sorry your FI's best friend's mom wasn't being helpful. This is the kind of thing where it's just best to focus on now and not worry about the future. *Hugs* Definitely indulge in that chocolate stash, girl, and let me know if you need to vent.

  • @blackbird230 - I just noticed your picture on another thread and was going to start a new thread to ask about it! It's GORGEOUS!! Do you have a picture on your finger? Did he give it to you in a special way? I hope your dad is okay.

@Lapeanut1018 - You're so pretty. I absolutely ADORE your headband. (and your belt, btw. Super cute!!)

My weekend was fairly uneventful. Friday I had two lacrosse games, and then went to a campus theatre production of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." It was good - but I work at a STEM school, so arts and humanities aren't always everyone's strong suit.

Saturday we had our championship women's lacrosse game, and we won! It's my first championship at this school, so I was really excited. I found a four leaf clover before the game & gave it to our head coach, so I'm taking at least a little responsibility for the victory :)

Saturday night, BF & I had a nice little date night. We went to a semi-fancy restaurant - it was a spur of the moment decision on where we were going, so we didn't have reservations, and when we got there at 7ish, they told us they wouldn't have a table until about 940pm! But they also said we could sit at the bar for full service, if there was a spot - and luckily there were two seats right at the end. It was awesome - the two bartenders were fantastic (one was the owner of the restaurant) and the food was AMAZING.

Yesterday I slept in (and it was gloriousssss), BF & I went on a cleaning spree around the apartment (my bathroom was DISGUSTING), and then we just relaxed and snuggled the animals all day. We ordered in (bad choices), and went to bed around 10pm.

Even though I was sad BF's BFF didn't come visit, it was a good weekend overall. They're going to come this weekend instead, and I won't have to work, so it'll be even better!

@Blackbird230 Did you post a picture of your ring already? Can we have some ring porn please?? I'm sorry that your FI's best friend's mom was so insensitive to you. I hope your dad is doing better and his doctors are able to figure out the problem!

@buddysmom80 YAY! I love your dress so much! You look gorgeous!!!

  • @GoldenPenguin, I'm going to start an AW thread of ring photos and the story. Just need to resize them since FI took them with his good camera and they're huge photos.

@CLoGreenEyes, @lalalaurita, thanks for the vibes. He was exhibiting stroke like symptoms on Friday, but they can't find anything on the MRI, MRA and CAT scans and his blood sugar skyrocketed. They're just running test after test. The mom in question was going to be renewing her vows in June because she didn't have a real wedding and her dad wasn't there. Well he's currently sick and "affairs are in order" kind of thing so I think she was trying to give me the same advice she's telling herself, but it didn't help.

Weekend was not very productive. I don't even remember what I did Friday night (although I'm sure it involved watching TV on the couch). Saturday, I slept in, relaxed, and then had dinner with my future in-laws. Sunday morning, we got up early for breakfast with J's parents, grandfather, and a bunch of his aunts and uncles, which was fun.

After breakfast, we picked birdo up, brought him home, and relaxed.

I am not pleased to be back at work.

@GoldenPenguin I got it for $5 on clearance at a store called Altar'd State. They're kind of like an Urban Outfitters. They have a website! http://www.altardstate.com/

@TwoDimes Thank you! I love my headband too. I'm pretty sure I said I loved my headband about 100 times while the stylist was finishing my hair. It just looked so darn good! Even FI told me he really liked it. He said he was skeptical of when I had first ordered it and showed him out of the box but he really liked it when he saw how it was placed.

  • Ok photos have been posted! Didn't get a chance until I got into work today since things have been so crazy.
