I'm having a hard time choosing wedding colors! SO many possibilities! I have more of an old fashioned, country or rustic style. Suggestions?

Re: Choosing wedding Colors

  • You seem to be into yellow? So go with it. I'm doing yellow & navy blue so I'm a bit biased :) I dunno,  go browse weddings on the knot or pinterest & save ones that appeal to you visually. You'll probably end up pinning the same combinations over and over again, and that will give you a good idea of what you like.

    One logistical thing to bear in mind is the ease of using each color for decoration. White or ivory is easy because all linens everywhere come in those colors. "Basic" colors like forest green or navy blue are easier than e.g. mint or robin's egg. That said, those kinds of colors are still great options for accent colors, or for main colors if you have a budget and attention span to spend finding just the right decor options.

    Finally... it's not like it's a sports team; it's just a decor scheme. It should adorn your wedding, not define it.

    You posted pictures of yellow with a bit of ivory/white and/or brown.  That can work.

    You could perhaps add some blue if you wanted.

  • Agreed. I chose my colors to be powder blue and hot pink because those are two of my favorite colors, and it helps that they work well together. All linens will be white or ivory because it's what is offered by most venues at no extra cost and will still look great with whatever other colors we have, plus I have chosen some great DIY center pieces that can be customized to offer a pop of color to the tables without going overboard on cost.

    Also, this goes with tortoisebride's comment about it not being a sports team, just decor, the BMs will be wearing powder blue dresses, but the groomsmen will wear a medium gray with white shirts, not matching blue vests/ties/etc. The colors are for the dresses, flowers, and decorations.

  •     We chose pink and purple. Pink is my favorite color, but I was afraid it would be to girly for FI. So I suggested purple and green (one of my favorite color combos). Well FI and I are both into comic books and he was afraid it would look too much like the joker!

       We both like purple (it's his favorite color) and he suggested we use pink. I figured it was okay since he brought it up.

    I had known I wanted royal blue to be my wedding color for as long as I could remember, it works well as it is my favorite color a color hubby likes and the color of the college we both went to and met at.

    After getting engaged we picked the accent color apple green and incorporated green apples into the decor. Picture of a table;

    It is a fun thing to pick out and it seems like you are already leaning towards a color scheme in your first post!
