March 2015 Weddings

STDs and Invites

When are you sending your STDs and invites??

Our guest list is primarily OOT so we are planning to send our STDs in July... Invitations probably in January.

Our venue requests a "soft" attendance count 30 days in advance (which would be February 26th), final count 10 days before. I'm struggling with our RSVP date - should it be February 20th (to allow for calling non-RSVPers) or should we push it back to March something, and just give them an educated guess on February 26th based on what we have/have not received at that point? Thoughts??

Re: STDs and Invites

  • You should send invites 6-8 weeks in advance regardless of how many are OOT. It's advised to make your RSVP date about 5-7 days before your contracted final headcount date.

Thanks @shannonmaya . I think we will give a "soft" headcount on Feb 26th and then the final 10 days before.

  •  I know invites have been a topic in the past but my check list it is a to do in December.
  • A to do to send invites? That's far too early imo. I mean, if you didn't send std, and your wedding was the first week of March, then I would say maybe mid Dec. But again, I don't want my invite getting lost or forgotten in all the craziness of the holidays.

Or was it a to-do to have them ready? I already bought my invites a month ago (I know-jumped the gun but I couldn't pass up a great deal) and am slowly adding the belly band to each and writing the inner envelopes for the VIPs. December/Early Jan I'll really crank out the envelopes so I can ship them mid Jan.

If your to do list is from the Knot, I'd highly suggest you don't use that as a firm guide. Some of their suggestions are far too early and the list itself is extremely overwhelming.

  • correction. I just figured out how to check the dates and adjust them on the check list.  Invites go out Jan. 17th.
